GBPT Bristol Day 2

News & Reports

Jim Reid eliminated

With the board reading 9 7 7 7 5 Stuart Rutter bet 2500 into a pot of similar size and Jim Reid moved all-in for around 7000 more. Rutter went into the tank and eventually found the call, flipping over A 9. Reid mucked and headed home.

A shout out to Jake Torrance

Hope the broken wrist heals up quickly mate – your dad says hi!

Esfandiari takes two

Antonio Esfandiari raised to 2500 preflop and Paul Gourlay moved all-in. David Lloyd called, and Esfandiari was priced in. A J for the Magician, K K for Gourlay and 5 5 for Lloyd. A flop of Q 7 4 looked good for Gourlay, but the Magician pulled an A out of the hat on the turn leaving Gourlay drawing to a club and Lloyd to one of the two remaining fives. However, the Q on the river sent the two Brits to the rail and the American into the top five chip leaders.

Early action

We have just lost our third player of the day already. Tim Blake bets the flop of KJJ but gets re-raised all in for by David Harris. It’s a big bet so Blake could get away from it if he thinks he’s beaten but decides that his AK is ahead so makes the call. Harris shows J9 for trips and Blake is drawing very thin. No help on the turn or river sees Blake eliminated.

Pete Singleton eliminated

GBPT Bournemouth winner, Pete Singleton, is eliminated after running pocket kings into quad sixes. There is guaranteed to be a new name on the GBPT roll of honour for this season.

Alex Torrance

Alex Torrance has been eliminated.

Welcome back to Gala Harbourside

Day 2 proper will begin in around an hour with Jennifer Tilly, the only female entrant, leading the pack of 53 remaining players with 74,100 chips. In 2nd place is Rob Akery. WSOP Main Event winner Jamie Gold hasn’t made it, nor have top pros Robert Williamson or Ram Vaswani. Other well known players who will be joining us today though are Joe Beevers, sitting 4th in chips with 54,950, Charalambous Xanthos on 36,800. Further down the field but still with average stacks are Barny Boatman, Antonio Esfandiari and Roland de Wolfe.

Benedetto Passantino, Stuart Rutter and Pete Singleton may need to make some early moves, whilst Jani Johansson will return with a single 500 value chip.
