Roland de Wolfe's Profile

Roland de Wolfe (1979 – present)

De Wolfe burst onto the scene in 2005 by taking first place in the Grand Prix de Paris – a WPT event that netted him over half a million dollars. Having worked as a poker journalist for Inside Edge magazine de Wolfe decided to quit the day job and turn pro after some decent results gave him a bankroll to play with, and that decision was soon vindicated.
The Paris result was followed up less than a year later with another big score at the WPT grand final at Bellagio in April 2006. Third place that day was worth just over a million dollars and already de Wolfe had become one of the most successful tournament players ever in the UK. Later that same year de Wolfe became the first player ever to win both WPT and EPT events when he took first place at the Irish Masters in Dublin, and in a very short space of time he had established himself as one of the most fearsome players on the tournament scene. A triple crown of WPT, EPT and WSOP titles has seemed imminent on a few occasions but Roland was not able to convert final table appearances in 2006, 2007 and 2008 into a WSOP bracelet. Nevertheless, there are surely plenty more big results to come in this man’s career.
