Poker Beginners Guide: Frequently Asked Questions
Just as in Omaha Hi/Lo, your objective in Seven-Card Stud Hi/Lo is to scoop the whole pot. The majority of your profit will be made when you are able to scoop, rather than having to split with your opponents.
In Seven-Card Stud Hi/Lo you ideally want to start with a hand that has both high and low possibilities. Of course, rolled-up trips (i.e. A-A-A or 9-9-9) are still extremely powerful, but A-A-2 and A-2-3 (ideally with a suited ace) are also very attractive starting holdings.
