Hi all,

I play on the net all the time, and I won a lot of money. But here is my problem, I have always won loads, then I lose my head and blow It, on like a 3/6 NL..All my hard work is just thrown away, but i want to win more and more..
Any advice, has that happened to anyone else..

Regards

nothing wrong with giving it a go and taking a shot, try to build up enough of a bank roll so that the "one shot" you take dosen't bust you out. I'm a black belt 3rd dan at "taking the shot" with all the bankroll. (see my relply to Joe Beevers in "Am I playing too tight" for the classic scenario)

if you are going to play limit try to build up about 90x the big blind and go in with 30x - if you cant beat the game with 30 BB's you should just stop there and go back to your usual limits.

with NL/PL I'd say 150x the BB and go in with 50 - same as before - no win, then back to your usual game.

if you do win - I'd still go back to the usual limits - but take another shot with the same amount of BB's and see if you can still win at that level - if you are constantly beating the higher limit games - then try to build up your bankroll till you get... and it starts all over again... Smile

that's what I (try to) do - now - lol

all the best,

I don't play the NLHE cash games anymore, strictly limit (Omaha/8b or Hold'em).

I think the biggest problem most online players face is being "under bankrolled". Most serious players when this has been debated on other forums would suggest at least 200 bb (big blinds/big bets) and some even 600 bbs. I have been working on a 200 bb minimum standard for a while now and on one site 600 bbs. Until I can build that 'roll up by consistently winning at the level I play I won't move higher. In fact I wonder sometimes if while I'm winning at that level if moving up is actually worthwhile (Too cautious?). You really need this to feel comfortable at a level. Especially when a losing run comes, as it always will. If you go in over your head and have a bad session you can destroy an underresourced bank roll (believe me this is from bitter experience in the past!).

I think Pete Birks posted something on the old forum, which probably would benefit being reposted about this topic.
