Any way just back from hospital, and just noticed on poker stars that you can get stats on the games you play. I like the idea of getting the stats on your games as it gives you the bad news - unvarnished Smile

I was wondering folks, is playing 24% of hands pretty loose?

I believe it is, but then I am playing mainly the .10c/.25c and .25c/.50c no/pot limit tables where a raise of one big blind can mean anything from "I got pocket Aces" to "I got two suited cards" so I tend to think with 4-5 callers to the BB raise why not play an Ace-X suited or even K-Q/J suited if you hit the flop you will get paid off, an all-in on the flop will regularly get 2 players, sometimes with only 2nd pair.

anyway enough waffling here are the stats for the hold'em

My humble opinion....

Table info on pokerstars gives you average players per flop info and average pot size. It is usually a reasonable gauge of how the game is going. How loose/tight you are is dependent on the game you are in. You wanna shift in the opposite direction of the trend, i.e. tight game play loose, loose game play tight. So if the average players per flop is running around 15% I you are playing OK, but if it is way up there at 35%+ then u should try playing a little tighter than u are at the moment.

Overall flops seen shouldn't rise above 30%
I reckon 15-20 is good for an average pokerstars game
Of course it all depends on the quality of cards you get: if you get dealt a whole series of big pairs and big slicks who cares if your hands played rises above 40 Smile

Its late, i'm tired so i hope this makes sense.

well with 3-4 in the pot (and me) thats what I was thinking. Added into the mix, is that when I go into a pot, even if it has been raised, I like to raise at least 3-4 times the last bet to get rid of the chancers and dancers. let them see if their 7-6 off looks good having to pay another 5 or 6 big bets lol.

I only play top cards, premium starters, so I always have a good start, its the finishes that bother me - heh.

Hey Chunks,

I suppose it really depends on your results although you are definately playing more hands than I do generally. I usually think that playing solid in a live game I play about one in ten and I would expect to be involved seriously in less than one pot an hour. This can obviously change depending on the type of game you are in.

Do you keep records of your results? That may be a better guide.

Hey Joe,

ahem, that's not a shock to the system Wink

I aggree, I (rightly or wrongly) see a raise of one big blind as a sign of weakness, which happens all the time in low-limit-no-limit, and I will play just about any cards - or more likely will re-raise just to see if they like their hand, suicide at times I know - but I have to admit to being a bit of a bully, and I cant help jumping all over someone when they show any weakness

: Do you keep records of your results? That may be a better guide.
I used to - I even wrote a database for it, but as I'm playing almost always online now - the Cashier for each site is a good record.

Like putting in $50 getting it up to $275 going in to the $5/$10 limit game, leaving it with $1.98, taking that to the 1c/2c no-limit game, taking that to $18, play a $10+$1 tourney (509 runners) get $36 back, go to the 10c/25c with that and take it to $110.

Might just take my $50 back tho, so that I'm playing with "their" money.

all the best to you and the Mob with your World Tour,

Big "Greedy" Chunks.

PS: can young Buster pick a decent starting hand yet? Wink he will still be better than me ;(

Joe likes to play at least one hand per five hour session, whether he has good cards or not.
