I had the mis-fortune to get cheated out of a pot at CASH in Aspers stratford on new years eve,

I moved all in on the turn with 2pair and (The cheating old smelly git) not his real name declared he had an up n down straight draw,
I offered to turn the cards over but he didn't want to, the ace on the river came and he declared that he got there and 'I hit my straight' was the words that came out of his mouth,
I showed my hand face up for all to see then accidently threw my cards off the table, he then called for a ruiling as my cards had left the table,
I asked why as he had a straight, he called TD over who ruled my hand was dead, I said it didn't matter as my hand was beat to witch he replied 'I don't have the straight',
I lost my temper and abused him and so did 5 over players on the table,
THIS is CHEATING,
What are your thoughts on this??????
Even the TD said its not his first time cheating.....
Why is he not barred or beating to a pulp???

Ive been asked this many times, he was old smelly and a small Asian guy, I'm 6'2" and even though I was steaming I would of felt bad if I had smashed his face in,
I did get my own back on Thursday as I went back to aspers and informed everyone at his table what he did, Everyone thanked me and he got up and walked out, so guess it may of helped others,

No money is worth any violence IMO, so it's a good thing you didn't stoop his level. No need to provide anyone who's willing to lose their face in public over a handful of money in a card game a legitimate reason or opportunity to sue you for a lot more money afterwards on top. Just let karma take care of it?

IMO, the best way to deal with people who display lack of class is by showing even more class yourself. They truely hate that and everyone else will like you even better (and people rather lose money to people they like).

Everyone dislikes angle shooters, but how did you accidently throw your cards on the floor?

So because he was little and Asian you never clumped him, nice little tell for us. When you there next, I know some little people that might be prepared to earn a few quid. See where i'm going with this. Should of lamped him in the car park, end of.

Will you be policing Aspers constantly now to tell everyone when he sits at a table? No, you should have lamped him mate. Not blaming you, but he's big enough to try it on, he's big enough to receive the consequences

No, because (luckily) he's 6'2'' and so - like most people of tall build - he knows how to handle himself in public. And he also knows better than that. No money is worth what you propose, Neil (ie possible "consequences" to maybe ruin lives; his or the other guy's or both, over a 200bb pot at maybe 1/1).

If you don't agree then at least agree on the fact that you might not want to inadvertently put ideas into somebody's head.

Thanks guys for your comments,
Your correct as I know how to handle myself and don't see the point in getting arrested or worse jailed for a scumbag,
Karma will indeed bite his smelly arse....

I will continue to tell everyone on his table everytime I have the chance but its not my goal in life,

I flicked my cards in the air to let them float into the muck but flicked too hard and they flew Dynamo style over the head of seat 5....lol

Protect your cards, just turn them over, don't throw them, let alone into the muck, face up or not!! You're inviting a decision like this.

If exactly as described, opponent has intentionally mis-declared his hand after there could be no further action, you showed your cards at showdown and your hand is live. The only reason your hand could be dead is that you might have thrown them to get a partner to change the cards on the floor. If that were the case they would have to check the deck to make sure the cards hadn't been swapped anyway, which they presumably didn't, and if they had, would have proven they were your cards.

Realise there are arseholes out there, although not most players are, and that floor rulings are not to be relied on for fairness, let alone consistency.

Pot should have been yours, but easier to just turn over your hand in future than end up with a record for squashing the angleshooter outside.

This is the problem with this country.
Too many people let others get away with things most of the time. Fair enough, you didn't want a criminal record, but you didn't need to get one, for that you need evidence and/or witnesses. If he was in the car park in an area with no cameras or witnesses, do him.

Most people will disagree i'm sure but see the 1st sentence.

If anyone steals from me they will know all about it EVEN if I end up hurt.
This isn't a dig at you at all, but i'm pretty sure a right hander would probably slow down his cheating ways

How do you accidentally throw cards off the table? Like Rev says, you sort of asked for it. It doesn't matter that he said he had a straight - you're playing poker, people lie.
