They have a point. Why not just put the money aside and have 10 grand of real money.

Because that will barely keep place with inflation in a savings account, let alone potentially grow in value by hundreds of percent. Of course it could end up worthless too...

Hi Mark. Just wondering if you did buy some Bitcoins? If yes, what was your experience of buying them? Was it an easy transaction and how safe an investment do you think it is?

Buying bitcoins is as easy as buying your groceries from Tesco online.

They have rocketed in price in the last few weeks, from a steady 80/btc a few months ago all the way up to 440/btc yesterday.

They are back down to 315/btc as I write this.

No idea if they will rise and rise and rise again or if they are a good investment now. They were a year ago!!

I'd assume they would keep appreciating, as mining bitcoins is -ev these days, so the supply is more and more limited. But I'd also be worried that as the worlds governments are determined to destroy a currency they don't control, that they'd become worthless overnight should they succeed.

In short, I don't know.

For anyone "bitcoin curious" the above is an interesting article.

I still can't bring myself to buy some, though.
