Whats it like being a fan of a selling club?
I once saw a list of players that West Ham had to sell to bigger clubs, do you think its pointless having anyone half decent as you know they will just move on anyway?
Arsenal have had to fund a new stadium, but they are a different sort of selling club, they buy players cheap, then when they are good enough to move to bigger clubs, they sell for a profit
The money Wenger has made from selling the likes Reyes, Overmars, Petit, Anelka, Henry, Fabregas, Hleb, Adebayor, Toure, Clichy, Cole, Nasri, etc etc and now Song is fantastic.
They will argue they don't care about winning trophies as they club runs at a profit and they still manage to finish in the top 4, very commendable.
But would the fans rather the decent players stayed? And Arsenal tried to win trophies?
I know Arsenal made it to a Carling Cup final a few years back, and I hope the fans had a good day out, but does it wind them up, knowing that, the minute Wilshere becomes a World Class player he will be sold?
West Ham is different as they have always had a great academy that has sold to bigger clubs and help them win trophies, but the question remains, does it wind their fans up, knowing that if any of their players were any good they would be elsewhere? |

i guess it depends if you want to be a real club or a billionaires play thing. after supporting united all my life the ownership by the glazers has, for the first time, as knighton buying us would of done, made me re-think what i love about football and if its worth it. after watching nani get in a strop because a blatant decision against him did not go his way, i could not help but think back to the olympics and the real athletes.
the truth is clubs like city and chelsea are joke clubs. they make no money. they have won a couple of things by the skin of their teeth but these "winnings" are far outweighed by the colossal loses and inability to balance a cheque book. clubs in debt are not far behind.
i have a lot of time for arsenal as they are a good solid manager who finds genuine talent and nurtures it. i dislike clubs that poach these talents and whilst united have a better record of producing people from our youth team i put us firmly with the joke teams like chelsea, and city. _________________ The next best thing to gambling and winning is gambling and losing.

But your fans are real fans, the real heart and soul of football, most of them at least wear green and gold scarves over the latest replica shirt, some even sang "green and gold until we're sold". Respect
So being the plaything for American's doesn't float your boat? I thought someone as astute as yourself in business would see the value of being the talk of Wall Street for 2 minutes?
The truth is, football has been about the money for nearly 20 years now.... |

The worst thing is being a fan of a team like Blunderland. For the last few years we've been spending like there's no tomorrow, and we still have nothing to show for it! _________________ Not surprised Xavi's been replaced. His pass completion rate was only 89%. Useless. |

You just know the goals he was scoring in the FA cup and Champions League were going to mean something come May |

| Players who have quit Arsenal over the last seven years have amassed 44 winners' medals between them at 11 different clubs, while those who stayed at the Emirates have empty trophy cabinets. |

If the Manchester clubs don't race away, it'll be Torres who costs you the league. I wouldn't be too happy about that. |

On what logic are you basing that?
His winning goal last night? |
