It was clearly advertised as a $75k gteed comp with last buy-in on Thursday night. NowI looked at the buy-ins and the g'tee and thought this comp is great value I might buy-in, but I had something else planned for Sun so didnt bother. However had I been free I would definitely have bought in Thur night and I would have been furious on Friday when the decision has been made to extend buy-ins and allow late buy-ins.
I know DTD have had experience at this and that this tourney is not theirs but if a tourney is advertised as one thing then there should not be a change in conditions ~ totally unfair marketting and I hope a real fuss is made of this ~ I would have done if I had decided to buy in at 12:55 on Thur night. !!
If a company want to advertise a g'tee to attract customers then they must stick with that g'tee. |
you are just S*** steering. |
Maybe, but on the face of it seems to be right. |

With DTD having in their rules that they reserve the right to alter/amend cancel or change any tournament up to the minute that an event starts I do not see the cause of complaint here - As the tourney was run under their rules.
More importantly they kept the guarantee - when if you use the rules above BBP could have cancelled the event or just pulled the guarantee. What would you do if you were facing a $40k loss on an event - use the rule to alter or amend and not lose $40k or would you say "oh I do not mind losing a potential $40k and we will keep it."
Well played BBP for Keeping The Guarantee. |

| yes you cannot criticize , as they probably had a good idea there was going to be a big overlay being scheduled on the final two days of the olympics, so could easily have pulled it. |

all companies add the right to alter/amend etc to everything these days - doesnt make it any better though.
cancelling the tournament would be terrible for image but changing the rules is still taking money away form the players that registered in time _________________ THMF 8 game champion 2010

Hey peeps. Just a quick message to say thank you to Babis Lappas and Sam Razavi for sponsoring six players into the Nottingham Live, and then donating their 50 percent of winnings to Cancer Research.
Also, many thanks to Kerryjane Craigie for donating her entire prize, and bounty Marty Smyth who, without provocation, made the same gesture. Finally, congratulations to last clown standing Shane Norman for really bumping the figures up with his final table finish.
In total, Cancer Research will be receiving $2,500. Back-pats all around. We may have done chunks in the overlay, but at least everyone had a good time and a good cause received some dough.
Final Results were as follows:
1st Kevin Williams -- $15,000
2nd Jack Sambrook -- $10,000
3rd David Craigon -- $7,500
4th Matthew Heap - $6,000
5th Chris Keyworth -- $4,600
6th Shane Norman -- $3,800
7th Russ Swift -- $3,100
8th Luke Bindon -- $2,500
9th Jerome Bradpiece -- $2,000 |

I'm a bit sad now.
We are a small skin of ipoker and we employ four people. We try hard to market ourselves and I think we outpunch our weight. We didn't want to lose $23,400 on this tournament but we promised a guarantee and we have taken it on the chin.
I am now having to justify myself to a person who wasn't even at the event and had no intention of playing.
iPoker let us set up a tournament in our lobby and hold the money. They let us pay out online into the Black Belt Poker accounts of the winners.
They do need to know that those people played the event though and so they need to know in advance who played. We expected an easy sell-out and we set the time that we would send the names over at 1am. When it hadn't sold out and we had a chance to change that time we had a choice of turning people away or accepting more buy-ins with a new deadline.
We went for the latter.
Not a single person complained. The people that got in were quite happy and the people who were already in seemed to have a good time. |

Sorry to hear this, and I know it's not to do with the overlay. Pretty sure most people know how much you do/have done for the poker scene here and globally. Hopefully you ain't thinking 'What's the fcukin point'. |

Unfortunately in these situations it only takes one person to pipe up and you have to reply to keep the integrity of the brand. The fact he wasnt entered makes it all the more sour _________________ ------------------------------------------------------- |

if an online tournament had an overlay and then they decide to allow late reg i think the entrants would be less than happy
cant see how being live would change that. _________________ THMF 8 game champion 2010

if an online tournament were to allow late reg you would not be able to unreg. in this case the tournament had not even started so if you are unhappy with 23k overlay as opposed to 40k you can unregister.
This is a self imposed time rule set by the website with provisos that timings can change. they did not change the tournament itself in anyway as even with the extended buy in period it did not change or alter the tournament.
they honoured the guarantee. i cannot believe anybody is that bothered about an extra day or two to buy in and i find it incredible that people not even at the tournament should be voicing their disapproval. _________________ The next best thing to gambling and winning is gambling and losing.

iPoker did this when they offered a massive guarantee - they pulled the plug on a running tournament to enable late entries. That was a bit $hitty but the tournament still had loads of overlay, just like BBL did.
Fair enough if the BBL changes had meant all the overlay disappeared then I can understand the early entrants' anger, but there was still thousands added... |
