I won't be playing the Anniversary cup as I've made day 3 of the main event - I think I'm 17/20 if you're following.
Most know already that I busted and then an unplanned re-entry on my own steam. I was only ever playing the one entry but had a mad rush of blood......
It's since been an emotional rollercoaster and I'm exhausted - I'll post more at a later date.
I'll sort out the refunds for the Anniversary cup when I get home Monday/Tuesday.
I'm hoping for a big finish tomorrow, however I only have 10BB.
However I only had 10BB at level 10 last night, (10K - 300/600), and I haven't been past 25BB at any point since.
For those who backed me for the first bullet - I know there's no make up or obligation but
I hope to finish high enough to at least repay the backing.
I'll see how things end up and take to from there.
Thanks for all your support.
Cheers J. |

To all the people who backed me:
The law of unintended consequences left me with a fairly akward dilema.
I know had I offered two bullets some may have bought the same percentage for both bullets. At the same token some may have passed due to cost or bought a smaller percentage. What is clear is that we'll never know - but clearly the backing was for one entry only.
I considered the question of well was this a 75% / 25% split given the circumstances. I don't think it was - i think it was more a case of a separate entries for a (although the same) tournment.
Had I busted with zip - nothing further would be written - you'd be pretty upset/offended if I'd called and said you actually owed me for another bullet!
(It was strange enough having one player give me the backing monies after I'd already busted as I felt bad for him.)
It was a spur of the moment 'Gamble' that resulted in the re-entry.
The cold hard reality is no one had a share in the 2nd entry and I owe nothing. This didn't sit comfortably with me as I'm fairly certain some would have taken 2 bullets and playing these events would not be possible without the support/backing of others.
I discussed this at some length with one of the people involved (who probably would have taken 2 bullets) before coming to this decision as I wanted to find a fair (positive) outcome.
I refunded the monies that you put up for the first bullet as I cashed £2K and thought this was the least I could do as a goodwill gesture. (Having spoken and done this in person with several of you I'm reasonably certain this is appreciated).
Obviously given entry fees, my time, the costs associated with playing, etc - i'm probably not 'making' a great amount on this win.
In addition to the above refund the people included in the original backing will received a 25% share (Proportional) of any cash (less entry and for one entry) in the next similar tournment that I play (e.g. GPS Sheffield if I play).
Where of course I'll win ( ). So if you had 10% originally you have a 5% share.
Disclaimer added for failure.
I hope you are all happy with the decision made - obviously feel free to PM/Post any thoughts you have.
I may make this dilema as general post on the 2 forums I'm involved in as I'd be intrigued to other peoples opinion.
Cheers Jason
p.s. Anniversary Cup monies also returned. |

doesn't involve me at all as I wasn't a backer but if I had been I would have seen your decision as a more than generous offer and going far beyond what was required.
As a reference point I had asked the question for Genting tournament dollars in the same circumstances, i.e. using Genting dollars to enter an event and then choosing to re-enter off my own back. The answer was clear, all winnings from re-entry are yours, _________________ "Brandon Uhl @BrandonUhl

I think this is very generous of Jason. There was nothing to stop him playing a re-entry and had there been time I am sure that he would have posted. I realise had he won £50,000 for first then any backers may have felt disappointed not to have had a piece.
As Jason says if he didn't cash with the re-entry there is no way he would have tried to collect any additional monies from backers - that would just have been silly - so backers are not entitled to any share of the cash he made.
Also, don't forget he only cashed £2000. After the entry fees he paid and expenses he hasn't actually won very much anyway!
The offer of paying the stakes back is more than generous and the offer of a freeroll too...well... _________________ Play online with The Mob at Genting Poker |

always nice to add a little extra for backers and will ALWAYS stand you in better stead for any future staking requests.

I hope you didn't receive any criticism for re-buying Jason. That would be ridiculous as stated by KB and Joe better than I ever could. But then I railed you till your near final table only recognizing you from twitter and not connecting the whole SamJess thing till much later.
Perhaps we both need to have another look at good advice for bankroll management? There must be chapters somewhere on 'generous to a fault' and 'out to lunch'... _________________ "I find it's best to start the day with no composure and then you've got nothing to lose." B. Boatman

Strangely - I didn't receive any criticism at all.
3 of the backers had backed me for Birmingham (47%) and Stoke (27%) - so I wanted to give something back for their risk and for backing me.
The decision I made was fairly simple on that basis given the amount I cashed for. It would have been much more difficult had I cashed for much more, which was entirely possible and one I would have been happy to undertake.
One hand I had J9 in the SB at 15/30K & 3K ante (with about 400K-450K). UTG Min Raises and button calls. I call if the J9 is suited or if any one of five other reasons exist - which I won't go into. Obviously I folded but it was very very close to a call.
Flop comes J9x two hearts, UTG cont bets, Button Shoves, UTG calls. River J.
I think the hand probably still plays out the same with me in the pot and I triple up to approx. 1.4m-1.5m effectively table chip leader and over 10% of the chips in play. At that point I definately final table. It was that narrow.
In the same token I split a pot 3 from the bubble all-in pre with A8 v QQ against Baltic Blonde; who incidentally gave me the most fifthly look (and not in a good way) on another hand cause I asked how much she was playing. Much hilarity as I spend 5 minutes trying to count her chips out loud and then folding.
In terms of bankroll management - need a bankroll before you can manage one...... |
