Awesome, simply Awesome. Smile

Played Cash yesterday at the Holland Casino - Standard was so good player shove 450 Euro into 150 Euro Pot with AJ on AXX8 turn.....

I kid not. And no I was not the lucky recipient.

2/2 Blinds with a fairly liberal calling pattern. 12-14E raise gets 5/6 callers, 16-22E raise gets 3/4 callers. 24-32 raise 1/2E callers. 34E+ usually takes down pot preflop.

Position is irrevant. Number of limpers / stack sizes irrelevant. Players happy to call/raise 10-20% of stack with AK and fold to a 3-bet.

Best fold went to lady who folded AK up to a 3-bet having put 18E into pot with 42E behind????

When in Amsterdam - I recommend a visit.

I think HU is a special case in a way. It's relentlessly high pressure and it's usually played very aggressively without much rest bite. I don't entirely blame people who would normally be relatively level headed for flipping their lids. I think it requires a different level of mental toughness and almost a game on its own.

Bizarrely, I'd say I've received most abuse on 9 seat freerolls, considering I mainly treat them as a bit of fun and for joking around. I remember one time, had one guy who flopped a straight, didn't raise it much on the flop, I had a A high flush draw and stayed in, hit it on the turn, then smooth called him and re-raised him all-in on the river. He called, went out and then launched an INCREDIBLE amount of abuse at me, the "hope you get cancer" sort of stuff that StGillmore mentioned. This sort of stuff doesn't bother me that much, but quite astounding how badly he took it, considering how trivial most and this freeroll was.

What gets me is that they nearly always blame the other player, when it's the site that's dealing up the sick stuff. Not sure it has a name, but there definitely seems to be a strange psychological phenomena in many people, where they illogically blame the fellow little guy instead of the people/thing above them, that's pulling the strings and the real cause of their anger (the site, in this case, of course).

As for people thinking they're better than they are. Well, luck, particularly in poker, tends to play tricks on many people. Maybe everyone, to an extent. Seems to me that the fundamental biggest difficulty in poker is separating out skill from luck, as calculating and quantifying luck in many hands is tricky. People win and think they're better than they are. They get alittle deluded, and perhaps there's even the odd site or two around that assist alittle with that delusion to keep them playing alittle longer. Then they get their confidence obliterated when that luck runs out, it batters on their self esteem and angers them. And that often happens time after time. Tough game.

P.S. Apologies if I've done any stating of the obvious. Very Happy

good players only criticise their own play. perhaps critique is better.

as a great man said "Criticising a bad player is like going to your boss and asking him for a paycut"

I tend to find the ones who mouth off in the live games are the players who think they are better than they are and cant grasp the fact that no matter what,,, sometimes we all lose.

The good players out there know they want a call from a 4 outer. And they know to keep quiet and not "tap the tank" when they hit.
