Is it just me or does anyone else think there is a large population of @ssholes on Ipoker especially when playing people HU. Don't even think Stars is this bad.
I haven't met any mob member yet who has been disrecpectful and I think for most part the mob members are as civilised as I have come across on a poker forum. But I haven't come across ONE normal player HU that hasn't mouthed off and abused me. I had someone donk me twice example calling 4 bet pot raises with Q 2 4 6 and then when he uses my set for a straight he proceeds to call me a fish/donk/prick etc.
No wonder the outside community have such a poor view on poker.
Rant over anyway hopefully get a friendlier game round the mob tables later. _________________ Master of Puppets I'm Pulling Your Strings!

Funny, the only place I have not seen players being abusive is in HU - $5 and $10 nlhe though. When I do get a raver at my table I now alternate between ignoring, laughing and egging them on in a way that's usually over their heads. They can only seem to repeatedly type the run of the mill ****.
Have to say though that when those that like to scream about someone getting cancer etc. pop up, I call the mods. _________________ "I find it's best to start the day with no composure and then you've got nothing to lose." B. Boatman

This reallllly gets under my skin. Dispicable behaviour.
It was more cash games I've experienced it in. Had it bad once at a $20 stud table but mainly cash. _________________ Master of Puppets I'm Pulling Your Strings!

I just dont understand anyone that goes round mouthing folk off and calling them fish because they made a bad call and got lucky. If they are a fish then why scare them away.
Its the same in the weekly pub league I play, guys moaning at bad play, in the long run it is these bad players which should fund your games. Keep them happy and tell them how well they played.
Doyle was always doing what he could to keep the fish in the game. |

I actually have a list of 'fish' on a tab in my proft/loss document. I look them up every so often. As you say, in the long run it's paying for my next holiday. _________________ Master of Puppets I'm Pulling Your Strings!

Sometimes the ravers are the true fish - they will never improve because they are soooo good and everyone else plays so bad... (they never even use correct grammar of 'badly' ffs! _________________ "I find it's best to start the day with no composure and then you've got nothing to lose." B. Boatman

There's an interesting thing called the Dunning-Kruger Effect, it basically says:
"The Dunning-Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average.
Basically, this means that a person is overestimating their skill and believes that they have no fault for a loss. Kruger and Dunning concluded that “the miscalibration of the incompetent stems from an error about the self, whereas the miscalibration of the highly competent stems from an error about others.” Their conclusions predict that the highly competent individuals adjust their play based on the error of their teammates, but the incompetent ones only think about themselves and don't make any adjustments, for better or worse."
I played/have played a lot of competitive games online (include Starcraft 2 and League of Legends, which specifically use the Elo system developed for chess), and (especially in LoL), you always hear people ranting about "Elo Hell" or how they deserve to be in a higher bracket. I can tell you now, the abuse you get in poker is EXTREMELY tame compared to that you get in League, but I imagine it's the same mental reasoning. |

I'm going to call the next raver a 'dunning kruger' and watch the fireworks...
I love that this will be my subtext:
