I think a lot of the posts in this thread possibly stem from jealousy.
Im not sure it has been said yet, but clearly this guy is an extremely talented and successful poker player, something many of us aspire to be but only a tiny percentage actually achieve. |

i think not |
Asperger's Syndrome innit. That's why he's so good at poker.
"Individuals with AS experience difficulties in basic elements of social interaction, which may include a failure to develop friendships"
"People with Asperger syndrome often display behavior, interests, and activities that are restricted and repetitive and are sometimes abnormally intense or focused." |

Just watched this today, obviously he's socially immature etc but he gave away a lot more then most of the people on the show do who are worth a lot more.
Certainly wont be joining his fan club, but you've got to be pretty cold blooded to not say yeah well done on the donations.
As for the haters, am sure he won't be on here begging for 50 quid before pay day in 15 years time......
(Seems like he only borrows 25k at a time ) _________________ Nobody likes Grasses |

I find some of the comments in this thread ridiculous
Its like criticizing a surgeon who gives his time for free for not having nice coloured walls in his operation theatre after he just saved somebodies life
With regards to emotional immaturity..how do you become more emotionally mature? push yourself outside of your comfort zone and experience new things...
I suppose the program would have been so much better if he had a John Wayne persona and only gave away like 20k instead of 150k
I take my hat off to him for doing the program and giving away so much money to worthwhile causes and seeing how the "other half" live
I certainly think there is some jealousy in this thread |

fwiw I do think it's possible to express dislike for someone's on screen persona without being jealous of them. I have no interest in his money, good luck to him for having accumulated it. I just want him to behave better, as I would anyone with no money but exhibiting the same tendencies.
Fair play to him for giving away a lot of money, I do admire him for that. _________________ "Brandon Uhl @BrandonUhl

Isn't the concept of the secret millionaire flawed? If you really wanted to do some good with your money, just go and do it no need for a camera crew. Just looks like "look at me I'm giving money away." _________________ GottheStones on Genting. |

I agree with most of the last few posts. There are loads of ways to give to charity without the hassle of doing in on a reality program. I think given the recent stories and issues in the lads life you have to question his reasoning and actions. However it is still a good deed so some kudos should be given. I think what Channing said in the 2+2 pokerkast summed it up for me. He is 25 and has sued 4 people already and he got tricket to lend luke schwartz the 25k, allegedly, and when luke played games not agreed on he refused to pay him the money back. Dont know the full story and probably none of my business but he does not seem to be that great a person, He is only young so still time if allegations are true. _________________ The next best thing to gambling and winning is gambling and losing.

I cant see what the problem is with the millionaire getting something out of the experience as well - if they just wrote a cheque and sent it in the post to an unseen charity I dont think it would be the same experience for either the millionaire or the charity, its a good confidence boost for the charity that a millionaire feels compelled to financially back them after seeing first hand what happens there
In the bigger picture the program publicizes charity work and educates people so I think the program is a good idea. Without the secret millionaire program these smaller charities would probably be overlooked if the millionaire sat at home and wrote a cheque out to the first charity that came to mind |

In respect of first paragraph they can still go out and do all that they do on the show, no need to be followed by camera crew.
The 2nd point is very true can't argue with that. _________________ GottheStones on Genting. |
