Hendon Mob Fan Page Freeroll Poker Tournament
We are fast approaching 5,000 'likes' on TheHendonMob Facebook page. Once
we get to 5,000 we are going to celebrate by running a $500 freeroll
complete with a $50 bounty on at least one of the Mob!
Once we hit 5,000 the date and time of the tournament will be announced
and the password will be posted on Facebook two hours before the
tournament starts to stop too many no shows.
The freeroll will take place on Genting Poker so if you don't already have
an account please download the software and open one here (no deposit is
necessary): http://www.thehendonmob.com/genting/
Make sure you use coupon code MOB when opening your account or you won't
be able to get into the freeroll.
The tournament is completely FREE to enter but you MUST be a member of
the Hendon Mob Facebook Fan Page.
Please get your friends to 'like' us too so that we get to that magic
5,000 number soon!

I'm not sure what you are getting from this. The regs on the forum are much less than 5k, I dare say it's less than 100 people. This promotion is nothing more than whoring for likes on facebook. Maybe it's just me, but why not have a promotion for people with a certain number of posts than encouraging Joe Bloggs to just like a FB page and get a reward?
It's the same with banks/cable companies/etc, the new people have such a benefit, yet the regs get nothing.
Is this your obligation to Genting? If so, I'm very much against, I don't remember this kind of farce during the FT days. |

Think they do enough for the current reg members don't you? They have to keep marketing themselves surely? That is obviously what part of the sponsorship is about and also bigger still surely better to bring i new blood and recreational players?

I remember the last Facebook Freeroll (on Fulltilt poker) with pro-chat 20 questions [I think?!]... was a good laugh, and this is a good way to help promote the site through Facebook and maybe to bring in some additional lurkers, and the odd extra poster.
Like Omen said, there are plenty of promotions for regulars on the forum - I'd find it very difficult to complain about that!!

I am no fan of facebook either but you are way over the top in your complaints here. I will not be taking advantage because I will not open a facebook account but I don't think we should resent others that do. Marketing is about spreading the word to new potential customers, not just keeping current ones happy.
I am very satisfied with what is already done for us regs and I very much appreciate it.
My only complaint is the well-known issues with software quality but I think we all know where the blame lies for that and it's not the Mob nor Genting.

PS There were two Facebook freerolls during Full Tilt Poker days.
The forum is not the only part of this site, although one of our favourites.
*If* there are only 100 regs then we would like to try and get some of the 10,900 different *unique* people who visit us daily (129,900 unique monthly) more involved.

How can a Freeroll for $550 be deemed a farce?
Also, I'm pretty sure i'm right in saying that the League runs at a loss for THM, therefore added $$ for regs, not to mention the bounties that must add up over time.
Why do you feel like you deserve anything for simply posting on a forum?

I think pembo is having a rough time. I'm sure when he feels better he'll realise that he is being grumpy.
I always wondered how the hendon mob finances worked - the unique hits stats now give me a bit of a better idea (as does the amount of rake only a few of us have racked up since May 1).
The more the merrier, I say!

I am not gonna condone Pembo's post but all i will say is that it would appear that the switch from Newcastle Brown to Rum and Coke last night was not a good option!
