Firstly to confirm Joe did attend and despite not knowing the answer "upton park" to one question, contributed as the rest of the team.
Format was similar to most pub quizzes, 6 rounds of general knowledge, sport, music from films, dead rock stars, initials and acronyms and finally a poker picture round. You had a joker which you could use prior to the start of a round for double points.
Off to a good start with General Knowledge, I recall we scored in the region of 5/10 which was around average.
Dead rock stars was a round which appealed to me, but the faces on the team indicated I would be gambling if I suggested we use our joker. I think we scored 6 on this round. Not sure many got the answer to "how did Bob Marley die?" correct as "toe cancer".
Poker picture round was fun, 5 pairs of poker hands displayed and you had to name the film these were from, then 5 pictures where you had to name the person (some were photoshopped). This generated plenty of debate, Joe was convinced they had a paparazzi picture of himself, I swore blind it was Annie Duke, turned out it was Phil Ivey. Total score of 5.
Quick break, then onto sport which we used as our joker round, good decision as we scored 6 1/2, doubled to 13.
Initials and acronyms was a harder round, forget what we scored but it wasn't high.
Scores on the doors at the end of level 5 had us 5 points ahead of 2nd place, but they had their joker to use. Joe was offering a deal, the prize was winner takes all, our opposition (WPT staff team I believe?) not the slightest bit interested.
Final round of 80s songs played, you had to name the film. Being a former radio 1 DJ, I was banking on 10 points and high fives all round. What a numpty, I scored none but the team managed a credible 5 points, however this was the same as 2nd place who had used their joker, scores level!
Tie break question, "what is the total box office turnover of Avatar"? Our guesses were around the $1Billion mark, WPT thought it was £175m. Correct answer was in the region of $2billion and we were crowned champions.
Joe shared the spoils, I was awarded the team trophy (framed pic of Jesus Ferguson) and photos all round. Sadly Grumble and I had to catch our last train out so were unable to take part in the hastily arranged open bus tour of London to celebrate the win.
Thanks to Jon Young for arranging, a good set of questions and well organised. Thanks again to Joe and the Mob for funding the evening and congrats to the team "Ram who?" who hold the silverware for another season. |

| We were thinking of auctioning it for charity, having said that the frame is from a Primark outlet store and the photo has Jesus Ferguson on it, not sure the demand will be sufficient to pay the postage costs. |

Next one will be post WSOP, probably in July.
Any volunteers to captain a Hendon Mob 'B' team and any volunteers for team members?
4 or 5 per team - £5 per player
