Chelsea have now apologised for their fans actions:
"Chelsea said they were "extremely disappointed" and "embarrassed" after their fans failed to observe a minute's silence at the FA Cup semi-final.
The intended silence was meant to be a tribute to the Liverpool supporters who died in the 1989 Hillsborough disaster.
But after sections of Chelsea supporters disrupted the silence at Wembley referee Martin Atkinson was forced to cut the minute short." |

It was a bad statement to make no doubt but he probably didn't mean it in all fairness. It is also massively wrong as there is a "scum" element in every single football club and all it takes is the right set of circumstances to bring that out. Saying that there isnt a "scum" element in your club is like saying that only the best sections of society go to watch your games and that cannot be true.
I wonder what the reaction would have been from some elements of the Spurs fans had it been Arsenal vs Forest at Hillsborough in 1989??? Remember what some sections of the Spurs support did some years ago when Sol Campbell moved with his only crime being that he went to Arsenal and he said that he would never play for them.......some crime that is and threatening someone with death just because he wants to ply his trade somewhere else is "scum" in my book.

I don't think anyone could possibly condone the actions of an extemely small minority of so called fans. I'm certain that Chelsea and Wembley will do everything possible to identify those responsible and they will then be banned for life (and rightly so)
I do think that Dean and Sundance make good points though. Every club has their fair share of mindless idiots (although most of ours went down the road to Millwall) and for Nem to make such a thoughtless and silly comment when in a position of authority is not the right thing to do and I suggest that he makes an apology. Everyone knows that it was borne out of frustration and (I hope) isn't how he truly feels. IMHO if it is how he feels then he should keep it away from his keyboard if he wants to remain a mod.
PS - Uh-Hu... you're clearly an idiot who loses their (supposed) moral higher ground when you say you want to hit someone ! |

its not chelsea fans its just people who are ignorant twats. they happen to support chelsea.
i have been dismayed many times at stadiums listening to the munich song. listening to some man utd fans singing about Hillsborough. to the abuse of posh spice. going to boxing matches and the abuse of the gallaghers and patsy kensit(jesus that is going back a bit).
the single thing that unites them all is not a football team but the rather limited intelligence of the person doing it. The misplaced loyalty. you can argue who has the most idiots. leeds must be close to that title but you are merely arguing who has the most idiots from a finite group of idiots. we are almost back to the self referential set theory here but the bottom line is twats pick a team, teams dont pick twats.
On top of that the chelsea fan with the kid you have to dismay even more and hopefully she can break free from the moral and social ineptitude of her father.
