The second leg of the Genting Poker Series in London’s Fox Poker Club has been such a great success that the £100,000 Guarantee has already been exceeded. There is now so much interest in the Day 1C tomorrow that tournament organisers have made the decision to open six tables at the luxurious Palm Beach Casino in Mayfair.
The move increases the capacity of the event allowing over 180 players to be able to register for the event's third Day 1 which begins Friday 29th March at 1pm. Online Buy-ins will close on GentingPoker.com at midnight tonight but cash registration will continue throughout tomorrow at the Fox Poker Club. Late registration, alternates and re-entry are available until around 11pm tomorrow but anyone wishing to be sure of playing is strongly recommended to register early online.
The Details
Six Tables will be drawn from the registrants tomorrow morning to play at the Palm Beach. These players will be contacted by phone and email to inform them of their draw. The tables at the Palm Beach will play the exact same structure and rules at the Fox Poker Club before re-joining the field at Fox Poker Club on Saturday to play to a finish over the weekend.
A Note to Players
- Remember to bring photo ID as you may have to join the Palm Beach
- Dress code: smart casual, smart jeans and trainers are ok, no tracksuits or shorts
- If you have any question please contact the Fox Poker Club registration desk on 02074943020
i am playing tomorrow and i dont like the sound of this. will the 60 have tables broken within them as though they are a seperate tourny as opposed to the other main venue?
either have more day ones or organise your tournaments properly. this is taking on the shape of a shambles. i want to play the day i have decided to play. i want my tabkle draws to be within the standard breaks and draws of the whole day not between 60 then later in the day to another group of people.
i have seen this at the wsop but all the tables can be broken into any part of the tournaments. this means you still have one cohesive tournament.
phoning people and emailing people last minute to tell people where they are when they have paid £430 to play a gps leg at the fox. its a piss take and no mistake. _________________ The next best thing to gambling and winning is gambling and losing.

Do you think the WSOP split the room as a whole??? No, what they do is split and balance tables in sections of 12-14 tables with a TD in each section until it is manageable. IMO what they have done is try and accommodate as many players as possible in the best way they can.
I still refer back to the event in Star City where they had 10 tables downstairs. Is that any difference to what will happen tomorrow?? The TD in the room balanced and split tables accordingly and when there was enough room, all tables went into the same main area. I'm sure that is what will happen on day 1c.

In fairness there is a bit of a difference between having some tables upstairs and downstairs vs a trek accross London via taxi or whatever method ends up being used.
A large part of the reason I am attending the event is for social reasons and when a tournament/day is split over multiple venues it can make it alot harder just to do a simple thing like bump into someone let alone make plans to meet for dinner etc when someone gets carted off in a cab...
I understand the reasoning for moving people during scheduled breaks and its probably the best solution to a bad problem but some people may actually want their breaks to eat and smoke and so on...
Anyway... I guess the proof of the pudding is in the eating so see you tomorrow (somewhere)...

Hi Darren,
I totally understand your concern about the situation and I regret that we were not able to take the decision earlier and let everyone know well in advance of play. That said, I am convinced that this is the best thing and we have the interests of the players at heart and paramount in our reasoning. We already face the prospect of turning away over 100 players tomorrow even if we had not taken this step of opening more tables.
Everyone involved has not taken this decision lightly and be reassured that everything will be far from a "shambles" we are well prepared for the organisation of this. You aren't dealing with cowboys here, the highest standards will be adhered to and we aren't making this up as we go along.
As Tower points out: from a tournament direction point of view this is no different from a separate room in the same venue. Tables may be broken within the venue but as the field is randomly drawn there is no matter where the table in question is located. Empty seats will be filled with alternates and you will be playing in a cohesive GPS Leg 2 no matter the geography.
A shuttle taxi service between venues will operate throughout the day but active player movement between venues will be kept to a minimum with the field becoming united on saturday.
If you have any concerns - please do just pick up the phone and ring the Fox on 02074943020. If I am not available to talk to you I apologise, I will be around to discuss your concerns in the morning and throughout the event.

The social aspect suffering is our biggest concern and this is why we really didn't want to take this step unless we absolutely had to. Surely, there would be no social atmosphere if loads of your friends can't get into the event because it sold out... As it stands we have very few seats left for players who come on the day but that is better.
I just want to make sure to reassure anyone concerned about organisation: we are well prepared for this eventuality. Genting Poker Series Tournament Supervisor Raf White will be running the game at the Beach, Genting Poker blogging teams will be in attendance and although the Taxi Shuttle will provide communication, the image of players being bundled into the car is far from the truth.
Personally I feel that players drawn at the Beach will have a whale of a time in one of London's premier Mayfair Casinos. It might not be what you signed up for - and for that we apologise, but I think you will enjoy the experience and I ask anyone with concerns to talk to me when you see me tomorrow.

Not sure I understand why the extra venue isn't used only for people that are last to register and that would otherwise not have been able to get a seat.
Having an option to play at a different venue is better than being turned away I'm sure but for the life of me I can't see why anyone that reg'd while there were still seats would be moved away from what they signed up for. _________________ "Brandon Uhl @BrandonUhl

i dont see why you need to put a 2nd venue on, you have made your guarantee if people miss the reg its just tuff i know you wanna make more people happy but i think you may well also end up upsetting alot of others. _________________ "There's not enough hippies to save our lives, We need more hippies"

Play is underway on Day 1C - we have 197 players today so far. There is an alternates list of players waiting to get in but we have a cash game waiting for them to while away the time.
Total collected so far? £202,000. 505 entries total
