If blizzard ever do decide to release the bloody thing (since 2008) then Diablo 3 should be a pretty good play. Its a hack and slash - using magic spells game.

This is the second one and came out in 2000 (yes 12 years ago) and is still a very good game, you can play over battle.net with other players. You can also download hex editors for the characters and weapons and modify them, ie invincible, high strength swords etc. im sure you get the gist.

You can pick it up cheaper second hand, just make sure you get genuine keys for them as blizzard are pretty tight on stuff like that.

Left 4 Dead 2 is always entertaining... and they keep adding new content. On some of the campaigns, you actually get to play survivors from L4D1.

Plants vs Zombies is quite a fun, time waster game.

Also, if you haven't tried it, Poker Night at the Inventory is good for a few laughs. It's only a 5-handed game, and it's quite easy even on "Hard" difficulty.

At some points, I picked up WSOP 2008 Battle for the Bracelets. I mainly play that when I'm bored, have no internet somewhere on my laptop, and just feel like messing around with poker.

Trine is a good game. Playing it on OSX but I think it's available on steam too.
