That's very valid but did you consider just 3 bet calling 11,000-odd into a pot of 50,000-odd ? I would be trying to protect a handy stack a bit more at this stage and shoving without much info looks risky even if it is +ev.

You have to realise that you are going to be playing a 3bet pot oop v an aggressive opponent with around 33bbs who is going to barrel multiple streets 99% of the time and although KQ sooted looks really pretty it wont connect with the flop that often and i will just have to check/fold too much of the time which imo makes calling oop a huge leak and takes out the strength of our hand. The pressure of making every decision is also ours which means making one single mistake on any street is going to cost us alot of chips. I really do hate calling but some people play better post flop than me.

I think if i was to play this hand again it would be:

4bet shove >>Fold>>>>>>4bet small>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>call

I don't like that order. You're going to hit a a high pair with a good kicker or the second nut flush draw about 40% of the time on the fllop and you will have a lot of equity v villain's range when you hit. I can see some merit in overbet jamming pre to grab the fold equity against a light 3 bettor but I'm never folding here.

Quick question:

How do you keep your roll separate from that of your monies to play from your backer/s - You have a set % take from your agreement which is obviously paid out from the profits you make?

Also do you have the freedom to play any MTT outside of your agreement as long as prior notice is given.

Oh and how have things been over the last few weeks??

Right... Loooong overdue update Smile

Things have been fairly hectic recently as I have had alot going on with poker and that pesky real life type of stuff...

Firstly, I had a little visit to The Fox Poker club for the GPS...

I travelled down on the Thursday evening and was met by the ever awesome DCSW7 and we wasted little time in having a couple of drinks at one of his local pubs... Well, I use the word pub but its one of those places that seems to be having an identity crisis over wether it wants to be a fully fledged restaurant or a proper pub. I ended up drinking vodka and coke which was served with slices of lime... wtf? I know I do sound well spoken sometimes but I didn't realise before that I gave the impression that I am some kind of yuppy from the mid 80's who expects a swizzle stick and bogey coloured fruit in my drink...

Anyway moving on...

We discovered the announcement that Day 1C was going to be split over 2 venues and I was pretty certain I was going to get the run bad and get carted off in a taxi never to be seen again. Thankfully I actually ran well and was able to play at the Fox which by all accounts was the much better venue. I got off to a decent start and was playing and running well on a pretty decent table until I ran into a pretty brutal hand in which I opened from MP to 2.5x, got a call from my immediate left only to see the BB overship for something like 75BB. The player had been making some unorthodox moves during the day so I sighed pretty hard and reshipped my AK and the caller folded... BB turns over AQ like he thought it was good and then looked rather upset when I turned my AK. Obviously someone on the table decides that it would be a great time to inform me that he folded a queen about 3 seconds before the queen showed up as the window card... I was a little tilted after that and 4bet shipped my remaining 25BB a couple of orbits later with 77 into AA and failed to get there... At that point I decided a ciggie was in order while I made the decision to re-enter or not as the blinds were at 300/600 and not too far from going up.

Having had a well needed break I made the what should have been obvious decision to re-enter and much sooner than expected I was sat down grinding again... Nothing much of note happened for a while and then I got my first ever penalty while playing poker. There was a rule in place (that I was aware of) for the ME only that if you folded out of turn you would get a 2 hand penalty. I was sat in seat 7 and being on the larger side I found it difficult to get a view of seats 4,5 and 6 due to the table legs making it difficult to sit close enough to the table for a proper view. Seat 6 folded out of turn and I took my action and also folded at which point the floor was called and while the entire table and dealer agreed that I wasnt really at fault I was given the penalty as well (rightly so though it sucked arse).

After coming back I managed to pick up a few hands and built my stack up to being somewhat comfortable again and also had the somewhat bizarre situation of knocking out a very talkative player for the second time in the tournament with him going bust against me both times with a club flush draw. I ended the day with a reasonable stack and was very happy to be returning the following day...

Day 2 started fairly uneventfully for the most part and I was playing fairly well until I got moved to the feature table where I immediately went completely card and situation dead. I basically ended up pretty much folding to the bubble when I got myself into a little pickle...

Playing hand for hand I was aware of quite a bit of action on a couple of outer tables and I judged from a whole bunch of cheers and shouting that someone had busted out which then game me some freedom to take a little liberty in the BB vs the button. I 5 bet shipped A6hh and was pretty disgusted to get called. As I was picking up my cards to flip them over I was told not to expose my hand as nobody else had busted.../PUKE!!!

After that all the cameras turned up and a large crowd gathered round the table and I sat there sighing very hard to myself knowing that I would need to get there vs whatever the villain had and finally I was told I could flip my cards. My opponent flips AK and was visibly upset when he saw my hand as he had decided I couldn't possibly make a move like I had with the hand that I had and I assume was expecting a flip or something... Thankfully for me I managed to spike a 6 on the flop and was able to sit down feeling relieved and somewhat embarrassed while my opponent was tilting his proverbials off.

I only really played 1 more hand on the feature table after that which was when it was folded to me in the sb and I opened Q2 and was called by the BB. KQ8 flop with 2 hearts and I check called and was happy to see an off suit 7 on the turn. I check called again planning to call any river blank. The river however had other ideas and brought the worst card in the deck for me, the Ah. I puked quite hard and took some time before checking and was greeted with a 2/3rds pot bet to which I took some time again before folding. I found out later that the stream was showing he had A9 but I was also reliably informed by a couple of his friends who I also know that he had T9 and that the stream had gotten it wrong. At least I looked like a hero on the stream I suppose...

I was moved off the feature table after the following break and my stack started yoyoing like a manic depressive on crack coacaine as I ran into a long run of coolers and unavaoidable situations where I couldn't hold with the best of it but would get there from behind when I was at risk. TT < AT, A3 > TT (after a disgustingly long slowroll lol), TT < JJ, QQ - 99 (6 high straight on board lolz) all aipf. I eventually ended up going bust just as I had reached the heady heights of 20bb after grinding a 3 - 10 bb stack for the best part of a couple of hours 4bet shipping pre with TT into AJ only to see the jack hit on the river.

While I did overall enjoy playing the tournament there were a couple of things that really stood out to me as being unacceptable about the way the tournament was run. Firstly the announcement of the split venue at 8pm on 1B was very annoying and while I wasn't directly affected by that in itself jbworldwide had been shuffled over there and was told that re-entries would finish at 7:30pm whereas we were able to re-enter at the Fox until 9:30pm. He arrived at the fox a few minutes before I sat down for my second entry and was understandably most annoyed at that situation. In my mind that was a pretty disgusting error on the part of the TD's/Genting and is/was a direct result of the rushed arrangements for the split venues. I also heard about a person who was supposed to be playing at PB but because he did not meet the dress code, was allowed to play at Fox despite his table draw. Again I wasn't affected by that but you can imagine how some of the people who had been shuffled over to PB felt about that as well.

Anyway enough of the moans... Overall I really did enjoy my weekend and it was great to see some of the guys again and to meet St.Gilmore. I also played in one of the craziest .50/1 games I have ever played in where the average stack was something like 600bb with a drunk hyper aggressive guy who made some very unorthodox moves, both pre and post flop which kept the game very exciting and amusing.

After returning from London I took a couple of days off from poker to catch up with sleep and I also had to attend a funeral which while never fun, allowed me to meet alot more of my better half's family even if I was half asleep lol

So after some time away from the online tables I was ready to get a bit of a grind on before playing UKIPT Nottingham but as has happened before I lost some of my edge and pretty much nosedived in the 3 sessions I was able to fit in before returning to the live arena... UKIPT Nottingham was pretty much a fail as I wasn't able to get started in the main event and suffered from disgusting run outs and people just getting there which and I busted on the first hand after the second break with TPTK vs a set.

The following day I played online again and started to play and run a little better but again managed to lose a chunk as my deep runs just managed to fail to reach the final tables again. I decided to do a little socialising on the friday night and turned up to DTD on Saturday to donate in the £300 side event which didn't exactly go as planned when I had my KK busted and I ended up drinking not quite enough to get myself drunk at the Pokerstars 'party'. Having heard epic tales of other Pokerstars parties I have to admit that it did seem a little bit of a letdown and I made it home in time for an early nights sleep...

All of a sudden it turned out to be Sunday again and I was ready for a good grind and alot of deep runs. I had a great start in several tournaments but unfortunately I wasn't able to put many good runs together once I got ITM and it was looking like it was going to be another arsehole day. However, I did manage to make a deep run in the sunday million which saved my day rather nicely though it sucked arse busting in 22nd...

As I am currently sliding deeper into MU at the minute I am changing my playing times back to a more daytime kind of schedule again to lower variance and work my way out a little before hitting the huge peak time fields again with the exception of tomorrow (Sunday) so hopefully I will be knocking up some more wins again soon Smile

I definately have slacked on this thread for a while and have some stuff I will definately be posting about soon and now I am sliding back into online 'life' properly again I daresay the next update will be alot sooner and hopefully I will get those thoughts out...

My backer does not allow me to keep any of my own money in my account to ensure there are no mistakes in what is his and what is mine. Any time I am due money from profit splits or recieve money for other reasons I just cash it out to my bank account.

As for freedom to play MTT's he doesn't back me for I have no freedom on Pokerstars to play anything that isn't for him though I do have more freedom on other sites and can play on my own dime if I want to though I generally give him the option of taking it if he wants.

And as you may have guessed from my previous post... The last few weeks have been somewhat hectic for a large vareity of reasons lol

Ok a little update of the last few days...

Sunday wasn't a bad day overall... I had a great call going with jbworldwide and Christaborg and was playing very well but getting unlucky alot as is the way of Sundays. I did manage to spike a few deep runs and had the ultimately dissappointing experience of direct FT bubbling both the $11r $70K and the $55 $55K witih $11k and $13k up top. Nothing I could do about it and ultimately I just got unlucky at what most people consider to be the worst possible time. Its not too bad though because while it appears to suck badly its all part of normal distribution and just cant be helped. The fact that I was even going for double jeapordy at all again on a Sunday so 'soon' after the previous epic Sunday is an acheivement in itself and a validation of how well I was playing.

On Monday however I ran a session and pretty much bricked everything managing just 2 min cashes over the 28 games played. Like the previous good day, these days happen as well and are really annoying but they are a good spur on to focus and take that extra care the next day...

Tuesday was an interesting day... I got up nice and early and got underway for about 9am. I managed to play a 60 game session and the first tournament I late registered when starting I won for $757 ($33 deepstack) to ensure that the day was never going to be a bad loss. I then managed to final table the $54 KO $12K which was playing quite shortstacked anyway but then nobody busted for 50 minutes which sent the average stack crashing to about 15bb's. At one point I lost a hand and ended up with 11,000 chips at 3500/7k utg but I managed an epic comeback and was able to win the tournament for a little under $3k to see a nice profit on the day.

I got up at just past midnight today to get a birthday grind in to gather the karma but unfortunately I didn't run very well but I didn't really lose much so maybe the karma did happen, who knows Smile

Just gonna be chilling out for the rest of the day and taking a nicely earned break for my birthday before coming back for a strong weekend Smile
