why the hell is the iPoker client going anywhere near facebook?

Pass. It might be something they are getting ready for in the back end, such as a 'like' type feature. It might also, to be fair to playtech be on of the Genting flash banners that is causing it, however, they aren't designed to go near facebook, but doesn't mean a developer hasn't been lazy and just copied some code incorrectly.

One thing seems odd. StGilmore is the only player afaik who has the issue...so either she is the only Genting Poker player without facebook, of something else is causing the conflict.

have sent over the print screens to our friends at Playtech Tech support, lets see what they say.

Hi, is it stopping the launch of the software, or can you click it and carry on?

Does is pop up at a specific time during the load?

It isn't hindering play in any way I can tell. Just tonight it came after I started the $4k GP FO tourney.

btw tonight's msg is the same as this except it's Line 73

Does the same happen if you load any other iPoker clients? Not that you EVER should, obviously....

Correct. Seriously, what happens with your cashier, does it just hang? Did you try updating your flash software to the latest version (that is playtechs standard answer to cashier issues and to be fair it usually works!)

This means that at some point you agreed to post something to do with genting on your facebook page. Scripts run and there will be an object like facebooklink.writeto that was created by the coder to do a page request to the facebook server. ipoker probably changed their code or upgraded the .net version and now that method they created is no longer supported. or the library it is in is no longer accessible.

if you click run as normal it should retun out of the script and continue running the app.

You could try going to your genting profile and unticking anything that looks like writing to any external website.

Hmmm. When the Mob was asking for FB likes a couple of months ago I created a FB account only on this linux based netbook - not the laptop I use for poker. Can't imagine how that could be connected in any straightforward way. The site runs as normal, and as I said the error msg happened exactly same when I tried paddypower. Seems to me it might be more that 'like' button coming for ipoker sites?

It is more likely to be something you have ticked within the genting app. it also could be a generic thing from the client so dont go investigate too much. lol

See notes from Tech below. Try these, if they work (or not) let me know please. There is also a note about cashier, which might help badger....

The client uses Internet Explorer’s ActiveX components to display the cashier and the banners in the lobby. While we are unable to reproduce this issue at our end, it is most likely caused by player’s Internet Explorer settings. Please ask the player to try the following:
1. Open Internet Explorer; go to Tools -> Internet Options.
2. Choose the Security tab and first click on Internet and then on Custom Level.
3. From the Custom Level button the Security Settings will open up. From there please reset the custom settings to Medium by choosing from the “Reset to:” menu Medium and clicking on Reset button.
4. Click Yes on the warning message.
5. Please click OK.
After that restart Internet Explorer and the casino client and try again.

The problem might also occur because the player has script debugging enabled. To disable script debugging the player needs to do the following:
1. Open Internet Explorer, go to tools-> Internet options,
2. select the advanced tab
3. from under Browsing tick both Disable Script Debugging (Internet Explorer) and Disable Script Debugging (Other)...
4. Click OK
After that restart Internet Explorer and the casino client and try again.

Also please note that the cashier uses secure connections. If he is using any local firewall software then he should make sure that the port 443 is open for outgoing TCP connections.

So something in here is also maybe why I get a short disconnection every time I go to deposit in the cashier? (or, ya know, withdraw even... probably)

As Darren said I'm kind of loathe to investigate too much as it's not affecting the games and I want internet explorer to stay dormant - hate it. Then again, if the above is the problem it's not really dormant at all.

Just grrrr.

Please tell me you are joking...

Right, I'm now aware. I will raise with iPoker the following:

4 handed table frequency - I suspect that might be a setting to ensure the game is fast whilst they have lower volumes. If it always waited until 6 people were sat, it could be slower, and they claim "it is the fastest poker in the world!" so that maybe why.

9 big blinds in a row - I will ask if that is the special "StowJon Irritation Feature" I asked them to implement, if so we can leave it, but if not I am sure they will be able to lok at the rules behind it.

Has anyone else experienced table lag that requires a leave and sit down?

I really doubt that the 4 handed thing is intentional, must be a software glitch of some kind, because it never dealt a 5 handed for instance, only 4. And the very nature of the speed poker concept is that it is always a full table you get dealt into. So hopefully you will hear back from them as to why this is happening.

I have seen quite a few hands that are 5 handed as well as 4 handed if that makes any difference.

Ok have done this (it was set to medium-high) - I already had both disables ticked.

I then restarted my computer.

Load Genting and I didn't get the error msg first thing (but sometimes, as last night, it comes later). Went to deposit via Skrill. Did NOT get temporariy disconnected this time and still no FB error msg. Let's hope being medium/mediocre does the trick. Wink

Can something be done about the fact that the 'sit out next blind' just doesn't work a fair percentage of the time?

I click it with a few hands to go before my blind - it appears clicked, and then when the blind hits me it just deals me in as usual. It just can not be relied on at all.
