Hello all,
I just wanted to post a quick introduction. My name is Jonny and I'll be keeping tabs on the forums here, and hopefully I can make some useful contributions for PokerStars related questions or feedback that some of you might have. PokerStars has always tried to keep a close relationship with the players to be able to meet their needs, and I'm genuinely interested in hearing your input.
I'll do my best to answer any other questions and I look forward to participating in the future.
Jonny

Heres a question to start you off...
There is a 'Steps' route to PCA, WSOP, and European EPT Events. Is there any plans to allow $ or € steps tickets to go towards EPT London as the only qualifiers I see so far are in £? |

Hi Jonny,
When are Pokerstars going to offer Half Pot Limit Badugi cash tables like their rivals Carbon Poker do?
Why are HU badugi cash tables not offered? |

Nice to meet you Pizzicato.
The currency of the target event determines the Step system that you enter. So only £ Step tickets will be valid towards EPT London Step tournaments. Unfortunately, you will not be able to use non £ Step tickets to qualify for EPT London.

Hi moosey,
I am unsure as to why there are no HU Badugi games, but I will personally pass this onto or Poker Room Management Team for you, thank you for letting me know what you would like to see, who else would like to see HU or Half Pot Limit Badugi cash games?
What else would you like to see?

really wish stars would sort their lobby out, it is hell to use compared to full tilts
also sucks you can't see the payout info in a tournament until after late reg has finished
those are my two biggest niggles with the software |

Hello, it's good to talk to a Stars rep.
I'm looking to deposit a decent amount of money at pay day (about $100, which isn't much for some people but it's about a week's wage for me!), looking to grind up a bank roll to see where I stand. (I'd love poker to be a primary addition to my earning as a student, and then after graduation, earn enough to work part time/go pro!), however I'm primarily a SnG player at the minute (I had a massive edge on FTP, constant profit on low stakes SnGs there), but I'm looking to move to cash games to obviously make the money.
My major concern is clearing my initial deposit bonus. What sort of volume am I looking at to clear $100 worth of bonus at $2-$3 SnGs (and some cash PLO), considering I'm strictly managing a bankroll? Is $100 too much? And would it be worth depositing less and slowly adding more deposits, or just stick the lot on and clear it?
cheers

| I'd like to see better rewards for microstakes grinders. Playing 50NL and below just doesn't seem viable at Stars given the rakeback deals offered by iPoker skins and other networks. |

On another note Jonny, I emailed Pokerstars some months ago to ask why I continue to find more and more sites that show data from recent cash hands I have played, analysis of my play and rating / rankings etc.
I want to know why Pokerstars don't make it their number one priority to totally stop the trawling of their site and collection of this ever more invasive data. In fact Jonny you should be aware that I almost exclusively play Badugi Cash as opposed to Holdem or Omaha etc to expressly limit any use of this kind of data. So it directly limits the Rake I pay to Pokerstars.
Pls hurry up and outlaw all datamining products and protect the integrity and longevity of the game, whilst preserving the bankroll of recreational players.
I got this response from support which in my opinion is a back to front approach from Pokerstars, whereas they normally lead the market and set the standard :
Thank you for contacting PokerStars.
Our tournament lobbies display all entrant and prize information, and as this is public information, it can be viewed by any player. As a result, if a player was dedicated enough, they could record all tournament results, and compile information regarding any individual player.
There are some websites which compile and make such information available to subscribers. They are not affiliated with PokerStars in any way, and do not have any information which is not already public.
Some of the sites that offer this type of service include:
http://www.bluffmagazine.com/thepokerdb/
http://www.officialpokerrankings.com
http://arcatum.net/startracker
http://www.playerpeek.com/
http://www.pokerprolabs.com
Further, there are other websites that breach our rules by publishing more information than we permit. As a result, PokerStars is working on efforts to limit the effectiveness of these sites by preventing their ability to extract the data from the PokerStars client without either the permission of PokerStars, or the players concerned.
For an extensive FAQ regarding third-party tools and services, please visit the PokerStars website:
http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/room/prohibited/
PokerStars has recently introduced a policy to easily allow players to opt out of third party results websites, while protecting their identity and without needing to contact any third party websites.
As part of this, if you wish to opt-in to their service, you are required to transfer three cents (3c) to the relevant account or transfer one cent (1c) if you wish to opt-out. These funds will be returned within 5 days and the return of your funds will confirm that the website has processed your request.
We have introduced this new policy to strike a fair balance to protect the confidentiality of players, while also allowing people to find out who won tournaments on PokerStars.
The table below shows the URL of each such website, and the account that you need to transfer 1c to - this will enable you to opt-out of their services.

OPRankings http://www.officialpokerrankings.com
PlayerPeek http://www.playerpeek.com/
sharkscope http://www.sharkscope.com
TopSharkPro http://www.pokerprolabs.com
By using this transfer process, we allow a user to confirm to the results website that they control the account without providing any confidential information, such as name or email address. To perform a transfer, start the PokerStars software and select:
'Requests' --> 'Transfer Funds' --> Enter the appropriate amount and the account you wish to transfer the funds to, then click on 'OK'.
If you have any other questions, feel free to email us back at any time, and thank you for choosing PokerStars.
Regards,
PokerStars Support Team
Paying 3 cents here or 1 cent there is totally unacceptable. An obtuse, fiddly process which most people will never know is even an option let alone have the time and tenacity to complete!!! Pokerstars need to protect player data by default and allow players to opt in shoukld they wish.
Thank you in advance if you can press any of these issues with the relevant people. |
