Nae bother young man. I knew there must be a way to stop them coming up!
Ship to Pilf on Stars if you like, but as a Buddhist I'm not sure you can buy Karma like that so don't feel obliged. Maybe pop out and give a homeless a tenner? (Not one of them bully boy ones on Oxford Road by the cash points tho!) _________________ Even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day. |

When are Pokerstars going to offer Half Pot Limit Badugi cash tables like their rivals Carbon Poker do?
Why are HU badugi cash tables not offered? |
Hi moosey,
I am unsure as to why there are no HU Badugi games, but I will personally pass this onto or Poker Room Management Team for you, thank you for letting me know what you would like to see, who else would like to see HU or Half Pot Limit Badugi cash games?
What else would you like to see?

Hello again Jonny,
Still no HU Badugi tables. Total guess on my behalf here but I am thinking maybe you have had badugi for 2+ years now on PStars and aparently the 'Poker Room Management team' think no1 wants to play badugi HU.
Can you run me through their exact thinking on this pls.
Surely it is a total no brainer to stick some HU tables on a particular poker variant. I cant think it takes much work?!
Obv goes without saying still no half pot limit Badugi as available as on Carbon Poker. |

Hey all,
I hope you are well and good. Thanks for the subliminal message, not seen one of those since the 80s!
In regards to Badugi Heads up games, there is simply not enough players to justify splitting the Badugi cash players into two distinct segments. If we introduced HU Badugi then there would be a liquidity issue.
We also believe that heads up cash games are predatory, this is why you will not see that many heads up cash games on the site, in particular reference to limit games, which are generally solved games.
That being said, I have passed on your comments to those in charge and they are aware that people want these games, if there is enough demand and it will not cause liquidity issues then we can seriously think about adding them. At the moment, there is are not enough players, nor is there enough demand.
Please let me know your thoughts,

Tried a couple of the new timed tournaments over the weekend and wasn't really impressed with the structure of the 30 minute turbo's, are there any plans to increase the time limits and build in structures that it more like poker and less like bingo ?
Kudos for trying something new BTW |

Hi Jonny, thanks for the response.
I think one of the reasons the liquidity of the badugi games has sometimes struggled is the failure to offer half pot limit. IMO this could have attracted another group of players that enjoy the different challenges and plays possible above and beyond the limit format. Maybe it wouldn't have done - we will sadly never know.
I don't think HU tables would kill liquidity.
If I am looking for a 8 seat game i sit in it.
If I am looking for HU I sit at a couple of empty tables by myself and wait for someone to
join me. Someone sits and within a minute a third person will crash the party and then probably a forth. I leave as soon as this happens. The people who join the HU games in third and forth spots are not leaving an existing game, they continue to play the games they are already in, they are generally regs looking for some short handed easy pickings.
To call HU predatory is pretty funny because I think predatory is kinda a good word to describe the whole business and game of poker, so its a bit weird to differentiate against HU. I would call the use of HUD and poker tracking software as predatory and damaging to your business but I think we already went there somewhere earlier in this thread .
Anyway I think I understand your concern over the 'predatory' nature of HU as it goes against your desire to keep players playing for as long as humanely possible. In this instance your preference is to maintain player bankroll rather than provide the most comprehensive poker offering and the most demanded game option. Is that right?
Finally, in your last paragraph Jonny you say that people want these games but there is not enough demand?! Well I think probably 65 / 70 % of players want HU tables. Thats about as much demand as you are ever going to get !
In all honestly though, I probably need to sincerely thank you for not offering these games as I probably would have bust my roll many many months ago, so maybe its for the best. Now if you could just get the Chinese Goverment to open itself up to an exclusive agreement with Pokerstars to offer Badugi to its population I might be happy. |
