Hey, these Steps will be released closer to the time of the event, the focus is on Barcelona at the moment.

also sucks you can't see the payout info in a tournament until after late reg has finished
those are my two biggest niggles with the software |
A big reason i dont enter some tourneys on stars, especially when they have already
started, id late reg on tilt cos seeing the prize pool sold it too me |
Thanks for the feedback here, I will pass this to the relevant people. Do you guys use the filters? They can help somewhat with your cluttering issues. I like the idea of showing the prizepool during registration. |

| Just to confirm, Jonny is a genuine Pokerstars representative and is fine to be posting here. Any poker site is more than welcome to have an account offering customer service on the forum, just not to spam it with promotions etc. |

To save Jonny some time...
There is some old code preventing showing prize payouts from the start of the tournament. Its on the list to get fixed but there is no official timescale when it will happen yet (soon™). |

| pembo wrote: | Hello, it's good to talk to a Stars rep.
I'm looking to deposit a decent amount of money at pay day (about $100, which isn't much for some people but it's about a week's wage for me!), looking to grind up a bank roll to see where I stand. (I'd love poker to be a primary addition to my earning as a student, and then after graduation, earn enough to work part time/go pro!), however I'm primarily a SnG player at the minute (I had a massive edge on FTP, constant profit on low stakes SnGs there), but I'm looking to move to cash games to obviously make the money.
My major concern is clearing my initial deposit bonus. What sort of volume am I looking at to clear $100 worth of bonus at $2-$3 SnGs (and some cash PLO), considering I'm strictly managing a bankroll? Is $100 too much? And would it be worth depositing less and slowly adding more deposits, or just stick the lot on and clear it?
cheers

Hey Pembo,
Thanks for your question. Let's see what we can do. Your first $100 deposit will entitle you to a $100 bonus. To clear this in its entirety (which you have 183 days to clear this) you will need to earn the value of your deposit times 17. So 17 x 100 = 1700VPPS needed.
$3.50 SnGs have a rake of $0.39c. You earn 5.5VPPS per dollar of rake. So 0.39 x 5.5 = 2.145 VPPs per SnG Played.
Therefore 1700/2.145 = 792.5 games needed to clear the bonus entirely. Remember that the first deposit bonus is released in chunks. We will release $10 of your bonus for every 170 VPPs you earn.
Omaha cash is a little more tricky, it depends on what level you are playing, how many players and a few other factors, but you can use this calculator to figure out how many VPPs you will earn and how that impacts on your bonus release:
http://www.pokerstars.com/vip/calculator/
In regards to the question of how much you should put on, that is totally up to you. You will have a maximum bonus that you can claim of $600 over three deposits, so depending on how long you think it will take to clear the bonus in stages determines your depositing strategy. If you think it will take over 183 days to clear the whole $100 that you have set aside, then deposit to what you can think you can clear and then deposit again to claim the rest of the bonus.
Hope this helps,
Jonny |

Hey Tosspot, can you give me some figures of how much you play etc so we can do a comparison please?
Have you also figured in the rake comparisons? I would encourage you to compare the rake of the sites that you have been offered deals at vs PokerStars. Also, please take into account the fact that there are no MGR deductions with PokerStars VIP scheme at all, and you are never charged any fees for depositing, converting currency or cashing out. |

| moosey wrote: | On another note Jonny, I emailed Pokerstars some months ago to ask why I continue to find more and more sites that show data from recent cash hands I have played, analysis of my play and rating / rankings etc.
I want to know why Pokerstars don't make it their number one priority to totally stop the trawling of their site and collection of this ever more invasive data. In fact Jonny you should be aware that I almost exclusively play Badugi Cash as opposed to Holdem or Omaha etc to expressly limit any use of this kind of data. So it directly limits the Rake I pay to Pokerstars.
Pls hurry up and outlaw all datamining products and protect the integrity and longevity of the game, whilst preserving the bankroll of recreational players.
I got this response from support which in my opinion is a back to front approach from Pokerstars, whereas they normally lead the market and set the standard :
.............
Paying 3 cents here or 1 cent there is totally unacceptable. An obtuse, fiddly process which most people will never know is even an option let alone have the time and tenacity to complete!!! Pokerstars need to protect player data by default and allow players to opt in shoukld they wish.
Thank you in advance if you can press any of these issues with the relevant people. |
Hey moosey, we do understand your feelings on this issue, and we can confirm that PokerStars is willing and able to properly combat the issue. We agree that the current situation is a problem, and that is why we are in the process of working on one of the most sensitive aspects of our services - our hand history process.
Our integrity is the very basis of our business, and the key foundation stone for our integrity is the confidence that every hand is recorded for posterity - allowing people who suspect something wrong (whether it be concerns about random shuffling, collusion, and so on) to independently verify the facts of the matter.
We are therefore very careful before adjusting this crucial building block - we do not want to make a mistake and cause much greater damage than datamining causes in the first place. We are also working on series of other avenues to combat datamining.
This is not a simple problem, and it is not an easy challenge; but we will keep working to stop datamining as soon as we can. |

I was specifically looking at the 5 card PLO 8 or better event |
Hey Grumbledook. Good news for you sir, you will be able to register for all non-turbo and non-super-satellite events through the client. According to the list, the PLO 5 Card Tournament is not a turbo.
You can use the following page to determine if the event you want to register for is a turbo or not.
http://www.europeanpokertour.com/tournaments/london/
You can view more on how to enter other events here:

Hope this all helps,

Really could do with being able to save filters as favourites. That would be a great feature. |

Hello.
1. Please stop Poker Table Ratings from tracking your cash games. It is completely ridiculous and unfair how this continues to happen with nothing done about it.
Thanks. |
