Some of the stupid rules that you have, that are not advertised and are bias to regs like if you spend more than 30secs thinking about your decision your only choice is allin or fold.

Great Q.

You won't get many answers are there is such a low player base from this forum that would play at the Western. There are so many more places to play in London that are fun to be at and attract a large crowd on the main tube line.

Apparantly there was nearly a punch up the other week at the Western due to 3 people speaking non-English at the table - the guys said they weren't talking about the cards/hands etc but this still shoudn't be allowed in most peoples opinion

Certainly not a shit hole, its a nice club to be fair, not really sure whats happend to the place, ive been down there on a saturday night twice in the last 6 weeks, and the tourney hasent started due to lack of runners,

I remember the days john duthie, koresh, robin keston, ect would play there on a regular basis, and the smaller buy-ins would attract the right numbers.

Maybe a few guarenteed comps might pull a few in,The international has a 150 on a saturday night, maybe start up a fifty f/0, on the same night, im sure the smaller buy in would see some players wanting to play it.

what ever you come up with, make sure you post on all the forums(if possible)..

Laughing Laughing

I have never been to the Western, and now I won't be going because of this thread - mission accomplished.
Fair enough your asking how to improve it though - but turn the caps lock off innit

Me and a couple of mates used to go quite a bit, the tournies are good and most of the staff friendly, there are even a couple of quality snooker tables upstairs

Just need to be a bit stricter with the regulars thats all

The club is massive and has great potential, the food is also very good btw

I was going to go a month or two ago but did a quick search on here and found all sorts of dodgy stories.

I have been a couple of time before and thought the venue was ok, although I do agree with the regulars tending to control the games which is a huge negative, especially if you are considering playing cash.

I used to deal there, and can strongly argue that the regulars do not control the games and it's the same as anywhere else in London with a high standerd of dealing and enforcement of all the standerd rules of poker.

As with anywhere fights/arguments take place, i've seen it everywhere from the Vic to the gutshot, and including all, it's not the venue's fault if players kick off, and I know for a fact they are banned and dealt with accordingly at the Western, where George looks after his 'croupiers' very well and ensures they are respected and in return enforce rules to all players whether regs or not.

They do have some house rules like show one show both, and the 30 second rule is not one I ever heard of there. As usual it's best to check if you've not played at a venue before.

It's a great venue, just suffereing maybe from the saturation of poker clubs/casino's offering games/pubs in London offering poker games. Add to this the players who now only play online, and the pool of players gets smaller.

Shame to hear it't not as busy as it was, I live out east so can't really get over, although it's alot closer than most think and only a short walk from the piccadilly line.

having read the replys so far i would like to say that there is no 30 sec rule the rule is that like most clubs if u take a certain amount of time on your decision, and have the clock called on you u are given 1 minute to act, if u get down to the last 10 seconds you are then only able to call you are unable to re raise,as for being bias towards regs as a reg i dont find it that way ive hand many decisions go against me and other regs, there is also a new tournement director through the week who is not bias towards any body just makes the right decisions, also i agree that the rules need to be posted online aswell as throughout the venue itself in what im sure will happen as for guarantees in tournements im unable to make that decision but ill be willing to have a chat with the western and try to get it done also they no longer have the stupid show 1 card show both, and as for the capitals letters i had me caps lock on didnt relise just my mistake
