Okay, I'll start with a brag, shot 85 today, including 7 pars - it was a shot course, just under 5000 yards but I am an awful golfer who struggles to break 100 most of the time so to shoot 85 I was chuffed
I had custom clubs made a few years ago, but still the driver at home, my bag is lacking a wedge (bar the obv pitching and sand)
Any advice on what wedge to buy?
Should I go for a 64 degree, or what that be too difficult to use?
By the way played Hazelwood in Surrey today _________________ p.s you are just jelly that a dramabomb happened on here and you wasn't involved. |

For you maybe. For me no
Did you not read the rest of my thread?
I AM RUBBISH AT GOLF, IF I BREAK 100 I AM HAPPY
I have only been playing about 4 years, so for me to shoot 17 over is an achievement, I know you have a low handicap Fatshaft, I have a few mates that play off of low handicaps and they don't mock my golf, they encourage
Its all relative isn't it?
What wedges do you have in your bag? _________________ p.s you are just jelly that a dramabomb happened on here and you wasn't involved. |

Nice work Sundance, 85 is a sterling effort
Trust fatshaft to be a Debbie Downer, what a piece of work he is
Get yourself a lob wedge as was suggested.
If you do, and when you come to use it, a few tips which should come in handy:
Slacken your grip on the club so you let the club itself do all the work, when I've used one I hold it very lightly.
Stand with your knees bent before and after impact, and open up your stance a little.
In the swing, have your wrists locked ASAP
Most importantly take the full swing, and don't try and steer the shot towards the pin, this usually results in a poor effort with the ball landing a few feet in front of you.
I've borrowed my friends Lob wedge before, actually the last time I was on the course I was about 20 yards from the pin.
Usually I like to do a chip and run here, but a small bunker was in the way so I told him to watch and learn.
I took his Lob wedge and landed the ball within maybe 8 inches of the hole, it stopped dead for a simple roll in birdie.
One of the greenkeepers there was witness and he couldn't believe his eyes at such a shot, but I just shrugged and moved onto the next hole _________________ The coalition is waning and dying, the only option is to vote Labour in 2015~ Teacher Dave |

I've been speaking to my old pal Paul, who owns the lob wedge I used.
It's a Callaway x22:
He got it as part of a set, but I see they're around 60 notes to buy individually, a shocking waste of money but if you want one then they are top banana _________________ The coalition is waning and dying, the only option is to vote Labour in 2015~ Teacher Dave |

No worries, I don't think it's very fair to come on here and slag someone off for shooting a good score.
People like that are just terrible.
Anyway, he reckons you won't go wrong with that club, it's helped him loads with the little chips and that round the green _________________ The coalition is waning and dying, the only option is to vote Labour in 2015~ Teacher Dave |

I bet grumble was tempted to post his multi face palm pic when he saw the thread title and authour
I have a lob wedge in the bag but rarely use it i believe it is for the more skillfull lower handicapped players.Seeing as i shoot anything between 85 -95 i dont consider myself good enough to use it properly. _________________ [quote:d8d120905f="Ironworks1"]The irony of you talking about our owners being the least classy morons in football whilst parading a John Terry avatar is almost overwhelming [/quote:d8d120905f] |

It can be tricky to use at first, also hard on a forum to explain properly how to use it.
I think live in the flesh so to speak would be good, I could point out some decent tips and line you up and get the wrists in the right position, then you'd be stopping the ball right near the pin every time _________________ The coalition is waning and dying, the only option is to vote Labour in 2015~ Teacher Dave |
