Yes, these Pro's a lot of time seem to talk a lot of guff.
I suggest working on your basic technique with a few 'tweaks' of your own making, this also saves on the cost some of these Pros charge _________________ The coalition is waning and dying, the only option is to vote Labour in 2015~ Teacher Dave |

Played Ruislip yesterday, twilight is £5 at the moment!
Played the best nine iron of my life, on the first 130-135 from the pin, finished about 8/10 inches from the hole, also parred the ninth and birdied the 7th with a lovely chip off the green!
Otherwise pretty shabby to be honest, my lob wedge, PW, SW and 8 and 9 irons are flying with the lessons I've been having, but anything longer is a problem.
Shot 103
I will break 90 again by the end of the summer, I am going to put more effort in than last year
Like I said, Ruislip twilight is £5 at the moment, so anyone that fancies a cheap round could do a lot worse, only plays 5400 from the yellows but is quite challenging _________________ p.s you are just jelly that a dramabomb happened on here and you wasn't involved. |

Summer is just around the corner and for the first time in a long time I decided to dust off the clubs and go to the driving range. With what started out as an embarrassment i was quite pleased with how i was hitting the ball.
The last time I played regularly was when I was 16 so over 5 years and I just used to play for fun hacking it round the course. Ive never broke 100 (104 was my best) and could never hit the ball beyond 200yards and I won't even mention how bad my short game and putting was
compared to your average 24 handicap player i have no idea, how far or how accurate i can hit the ball. When I went to the driving range last week, I can hit my driver & 3 wood both around 190yds but my drive has a horrible slice, so its much easier to just hit the 3 wood every time. I then can hit my 5iron about 130yds fairly straight about 7 times out of 10. and 8iron i can hit pretty nice 9 times out of 10 90yds.
Obv this is all at the driving range so it would be interesting to see how I fair on the golf course!
I've no idea if these are realistic targets but these are my aims to have achieved by the end of July;
Break 100 on 3 occasions.
Consistently hit my driver 200yards+
Add 10yards to all other clubs.
Anyway to all the other golfers on this forum GL in 2012 _________________ #whenwillitend |

| Had my first round on Sunday. Main theme was inconsistency with Stableford scoring I had either 3 points or nil on most holes and very few in between. Highlight was one birdie, lowlight was number of balls that are now in lakes. |

Been down the driving range and made some adjustments to my swing and it appears that with some more refining ive eliminated my nasty slice, backswing and downswing were way outside the normal plane.
Now mechanically thats improved I wondered about the benefits of equipment, i currently use a very beginner package similar to this http://www.direct-golf.co.uk/golf_pac...kages/p13313.aspx but around 4/5 years old, because i never could afford as a teenager to buy mega expensive clubs. However, with looking to take the game up more seriously would buying a more expensive driver £250+ say add those extra 20-30 yards they claim?
Say for example I buy a Taylor Made R11S for £300 and get it correctly fitted etc, will that make a big difference!?
The same is applicable if i say upgrade all my other clubs to say something the TM R11 irons, am i going to see noticeable gains in distance?

get a few lessons. make sure your swing is as perfect for your body type as you can
then get some advise on clubs for your swing type from the coach doing the lessons _________________ The next best thing to gambling and winning is gambling and losing.

first off forgot to say ty to darren for advice, gonna look into getting lessons in the near future.
So played my first round of the year and in comparison to every round of golf ive ever played it was an excellent round
The course i played in a municipal run by the council called hill top. Its not exactly long and not in the most perfect condition but for £5 for 18 holes its definitely good value for money!
Off the Yellow tees its 5718 yard par 71, I went round in 93
Bar the odd miss hit I was hitting the ball really well especially my irons! My main problem was that I hit 38 putts From what Ive read the average person hits 30 putts per round so if i can on average knock off 8 shots per round then im looking at the mid 80's which I wasnt expecting when I first picked up a golf club this year.
During the round I made 6 pars! So was happy about that. Including one on a 466 yard par 5 which is into wind and uphill
As you can probably tell, im super happy with my round
What I wanna ask you guys is how to improve my putting, is it just practice? Because I think if id gone on the practice green before I played my round that could have saved me a few shots!

Good thread guys, Golf is the love of my life been playing around 15 years now and currently playing off 6 after a little break.
Play at college pines in worksop mainly if anyone knows it, although was a member at phoenix in rotherham for many years as a junior and to the age of around 19.
The gear -
FULL set of fully forged irons, these came from a very well known golfer.
The Bag
Hybrid and 3W are both snake eyes, both have the shaft pured.
The Putter-
Few things won
I think a golf day certainly needs to be organised ! |
