Stayed at the Riviera last October, never again. Rough, bad position, no real redeeming features at all.

cheers ranny, he's definitely binned that idea now.

Venetian, bellagio, ceasers, paris, bills all quite expensive he said. He's thinking of the Rio, 1700 for 2 people including flights and 2 weeks stay. Rio must be decent i assume? I know its off strip a bit mind you.

bills is cheaper than those other five which is why we are staying there

the other 4 I mentioned first are pricey but you said "Doesn't have to be budget."

bills is budget and if that costs too much, i'm surprised the rio is cheaper

afaik all the rio rooms are suites though rather than just a room with ensuit, i may be wrong on that

if you don't mind being off strip and getting lots of taxis, or waiting for the free bus to the harrah's strip venues then perhaps go for that

Yeh i'm sure the rio is all suites. My mate reckons Bills was over 2k for both of them compared with 1700 for the Rio. He's booking in a month though so prices could be different then.

Cheers for all your help everyone. Enjoy Vegas those that are going.

bit more of a usa question, but if I have data roaming on my phone turned on i will obv incur ricidulous charges. However do you incur any cost through browsing when attached to wireless networks via a phone?

Would head up to Crown and Anchor for that, although it might be on in Bill's lounge.

Im hoping to go late November with Virgin - flights are currently 600 return.

Does anyone know if there will be a virgin sale between now and then?

Missus wants to go away for a few nights in November (just away anywhere).

Been looking around and of course started looking at Vegas! So far have managed to find the following direct flights and accomodation:

MGM 655 per person
Bellagio 723 per person
Signature at MGM 740 per person

I'm happy to pay the difference as I think a decent hotel will go along way with her. Stayed at MGM before and was ok but feels like its getting a bit dated.

If you had option from Bellagio and Signature which would u pick? Are they comparable?

I was just looking through this thread as well and thought would just add about my last trip in May. Stayed in Wynn for 685 and tried the $20 trick (tried it with a $50 as there was four of us).

Managed to get upgraded to the top floor (think it was 68 or 71) and was overlooking the golf course. Two huge rooms and she gave them us (without the tip) for an extra $100 per room. She also gave us $150 voucher thing to use for any meals, drinks etc you charged to the room - just taken off the bill at the end. It therefore worked out costing us nothing!

Not sure if we were going to be in those rooms anyway but picking a friendly female check in staff and making sure you are well presented and chatty and courteous certainly did not do us any harm!! (we left the one mate who was smashed from the flight playing the slots!!)

And after all the help we insisted on leaving the tip.

Couple of questions I do have - just more opinions than anything. I can see average temp for November is around 19 degrees, how have people found it when they are there? I know from being in Vegas in Feb that you are fine in the sun but chilly in the shade - guessing the same? Is it too cold to go around the pool?

And any new recommendations (bearing I'm around with the missus).

Was thinking of doing a show - Inde did you go to one in September?

Also any further recommendations of places to go with her or restaurants, shows, etc you have been to that were good.

Cheers in advance.

Every time i go to Vegas I end up going to The Orleans Hotel for Poker.
In my opinion, they are running the best structured tournaments in town for low/mid stake games and you seem to get nice management and the crowd who can play too.
Check out the daily tournament schedule below:

bellgio has a much better location than the MGM

is that price including the daily resort fee as well? harrahs properties don't charge them, so ceasars could be a good option right next to the bellgio perhaps?

Apologies if this has been covered but a 'friend' of mine might have a couple of criminal convictions from 10 years+ ago. Nothing serious, just daft stuff from my (erm his) drug-fuelled youth and no custodial sentences.

Anyone had any experience of this? Should I (erm he) play it by the book and notify the Yanks in advance or just try and wing it?

Wing it 100%. I went to Vegas with a guy who'd been to prison (and i had a caution) and he just ticked all the 'nos' on the form and breezed through customs. Their computers aren't linked up to show really old crimes (possibly not even recent ones, I saw Carlo citrone out there a few years ago).

Looking to go out there 24/5 - 29/5 but to stay at the MGM on my own with direct flights I'm currently looking at 951. That's where my mates are staying but even if I downgrade to the Tropicana it's still 889.

What's the best way of monitoring the price of flights and hotel rooms to book at the right time and not miss out on a bargain?
