I realise that this is a sweeping generalisation.....

Although it is clear more men play poker than women I think that fundamentally men are stronger in the types of character traits required to become good at poker.

I am speaking about characteristics like aggression, fearlessness and the desire to really destroy their opposition.

As you quite rightly say more Men play poker than Women so thats just the law of averages that make men better poker players.
But i really don't think you understand women if you believe they don't have an aggressive killer instinct to destroy there opposition.

It's been shown that on average men have a higher IQ than women. This makes sense to me as men were the traditional hunter-gatherers so needed to develop problem solving skills whereas women were the home makers which explains why they're so good at housework Razz

Setting back womens poker 30 years.

Seriously though, there was an episode of pokerwire radio recently where they made some very good points about why women havn't had any where near the results of male poker players, and why in 5 seasons of the WPT a woman has never won (except the ladies night edition).

IQ, schmeye-Q. It just means you're 'gifted'; it doesn't mean you can do anything. In extreme cases of 'giftedness' this extends to personal hygiene or basic communication skills.

I'd say it's just a demonstration that there's some enormous tits on the forum at the moment, and they're nothing to do with women.

This isn't true.

IQ is pretty well accepted as an indicator of future performance in most (not un-related) fields, such as most careers.

There was an interesting documentary on a few months back about IQ. They got a group of people, something like an IQ test specialist, a succesful city guy, a super-complicated-physics specialist, a musical genius, and an arty woman and maybe a psychologist.

It was clearly set to be a biased show; there commentary at the start showed they intented to give the artsy types the prize at the end.

But what actually happened was that performance in nearly all the "real word" tasks correlated with IQ, and they were only able to give points to the artsy women on a contrived test in which they asked members of the public on a street in London whether they preferred her painting.

But they finished the show on that test, and skimmed over all the other findings, suggesting "maybe its not all about IQ?", when in reality they showed it obviously was.

Interestingly, if I remember correctly, the musical genius kid had some interesting results showing he wasn't a one-trick pony, and showing he had some claim to the be considered talented, as opposed to the artist and the psychologist.

I think it was the physics guy who won (or more relevantly, always top 2-3) most of the tasks.

i have played poker for 5 years and no men or women really posed me problems in the long run so i couldn't respond right away. So i have decided to watch NL holdem heads up match between men and women on pokerstars ( 200 heads up matches with random choice of players so that there is no variance) and the men won more matches. So the conclusion is obvious men in general play better. Also i don't say that women shouldn't play that's not what i'm trying to say i just say men play better overall it's a fact.
