Now this is a bad beat

me 14,000 chips

average chips 2500

Ongoing pot, binds 75 - 150 2 limpers, me on button raise 600 with pocket 6s
small blind call, big blind call, limper calls

flop 2 4 5 rainbow, everyone check to me , I bet 2000,

at this point 35 uniformed police officers storm into club, 10 plain clothes CID, 2 senior police officers, and 4 gamin officials

They sieze all the cards, chips, take everyones name and address and start interviewing everyone about the club / games / who does what / how many did Harold Shipman kill, EVERYTHING...

Everyone asked to complete a 13 page witness statement with 15 questions per page.

and I still didnt collect the pot cos the Police seized everything

Unbelievable ??? it happened less than an hour ago at Cinncinatti's in Glasgow. I shit you not....

I asked if I was being interviewed as a wintness or a suspect and when the DCI said "witness" , I answered "no comment" to every one of 150 questions and he wrote down "witness says no comment " against each question.

Un- F**cking- believable

You would think the police would have something better to do. It's a complete joke a group of people having a friendly game of Poker get busted while people are getting murdered, robbed, raped and assualted. Me thinks they need to get their priorities in order.

Glasgow though - surely that's such a quiet, peaceful town that the police really don't have anything better to do?

Never mind, I wonder if I'll get my entry fee back Laughing ?

At least I didn't have any rebuys , one guy was in for 6 rebuys and the police seized all that money too !

The senior office said that they were "executing a search warrant under section 5 of the gaming act" whatever that is about.

I thought they were legal ??, they had membership cards, advertising, prominent sign and the they were running comps with prize guarantees in association with Littlewoods poker.com

You would think that they hadn't overlooked something like a license for cards ???

who knows

They interviewed everyone in the club at the time as witnesses and basically said that they were'nt interested in the people in the club...

Hi Guys, tikay here.

Dave Colclough has been offline all day, here are two Posts I made "elsewhere" late this afternoon on the Cincins affair.

Hi Guys,

I have been in meetings with Dave from early this morning - routine "blonde" meets, nothing to do with Cincins. We went our different ways mid-afternoon, Dave to an interview with Inside Edge, me to the 15.25 St Pancras - Derby Plastic Rattler, & I'm back home now.

Dave was vaguely aware that there had been some sort of problem overnight at Concins, but neither he nor I had been online all day due to the meetings we had.

Dave has just left me a VoiceMail to ask if I will put a Statement up here (he's still off-line) for him, & I will do, as soon as he gives me the details.

More info, I hope, shortly.

And.....

Dave just called me, he's still dashing around in London on non-Cincins business, but he asked me to make you aware, on his behalf, of the following.

The Club was "visited" this morning by the Police and, he believes, Gaming Commission Officials.

Poker Chips & Playing Cards were confinscated as evidence.

An Official Letter was handed to Cincins, saying that they were to be investigated for 4 possible breaches of Gaming Commission Guidelines.

No Charges have been made.

The Management of Cincins do not believe any charges will be made.

The Club remains open for business as normal

Meeshu, this comment along with your post about opening a "private" cllub have me really concerned.

You really need to go away and study the law in this area, Cincin's and Gutshot, and all the others around the country are operating outside the law, a very grey area but one that the Gutshot court case will prove once and for all.

If GS lose, then it's bye bye for all of these clubs, if they win, expect to see a proliferation around the country to challenge the stranglehold of casinos, that will only be a win win as casinos finally have to waken up to the fact that they do need poker in this day and age, many still treat it as a fairground attraction, or worse, something that you dog leaves behind at the fairground.

Morons. That's like accusing someone of careless driving and confiscating their car as 'evidence'. Someone please shoot these people in the head.

Some more info for you.....

Hi Damon here
On behalf of the Cincinnati Club,it is true we were raided Miami Vice style last night, with 71 blue suits running all over the place, thats when I decided to make for the reception to see if Osama had signed in.

Seriously a mad night at Cincins
Aswell as the 71 coppers on the premises there were another squad of them outside.

They bust into the club in the middle of the 20(2500 Guaranteed) tournament...shouting' get yer hons on eh taebo, naebidy moovs' (translated for the rest of the world) please place your hands on the table, and nobody moves.

Operation Hold'em lasted about six hours, while the searched and interviewed all of our guests(which I do apologise for,as we want to run a club where our guests fell comfortable in a safe and enjoyable enviroment and enjoy playing poker like the millions of others who play.

To set the record straight
5 weeks before the club opened, the owners of the club applied to the police and gaming board for a license to run a poker club...to which their reply was ther is no such license.
They were then told there was no reason why they couldn't open a private members club and play poker.
The owners went through all the correct channels to make the club 100% legal, which you normally would do before investing a large sum of money in a buisiness.
The fact that the Gaming commission and police have told the owners that there is nothing to stop them opening a club,.and then acting the way they did last night in the club,is bang out of order.
To be honest, most of the police didn't know why they were there(apart from the few playing in the tournament...off duty of course)
The police were puzzled and bored by what was happening and a few were also asking how to play poker...best one yet,one undercover copper had a t-shirt with a poker hand on it
They were just assisting the Gaming Board who also looked a little bit confused.

They filmed absolutely everything, individual hands, individual chip stacks, tournament director monitor and many many other bits and bobs, surely they would be better investing in a SKY dish down at the station.
They have taken with them 1 Table,5 computers, all the chips and cards, tournament prize pool and a load of papers...oh and sorry four machines.

They read out some part of the gaming act,and saying they had a warrant to search the premises(they only had to ask)
As I told a couple of blue suits, the club had had write ups in the several newspapers, been featured on the Poker425 channel on Sky,is situated on a main road with neon signs saying POKER CLUB(bright yellow may I add)...do they honestly think we have something to hide.

We have had numerous visits from the police since the club opened and CID,and not once was there a complaint...apart from last week, someone had complained about our guests smoking at the rear of the building in the car park(Smoking too loud)so we at the Cincinnati club dealt with the complaint immediately(2 mins later that is) and asked our guests to please smoke at the entrance of the club. Signs were put up at the rear of the club and all was ok.
The same officer lead the raid. just checking to see if everything is alright he said, and that no further complaints had been made and then came...........MIAMI VICE(get yer hons.........)
Tommorow we are going to see about retrieving some of our equipment, and try and find out more about WHY?
They shut us down last night and did not charge anyone associated with Cincins with any criminal offence, they also said we could operate as normal today...

I shall keep you all posted on any changes.

Once again I apologise to all our members who were there last night, and treated in the atrocious manner that they were.Any member who needed to go to the loo,had to be escorted by 2 blue suits(once again sorry)

I would like to thank the 70 members who turned up tonight, especially those who were put through that ordeal last night(thats loyalty and support, and it is much appreciated by the Cincinnati owners and staff)
The tournament went aswell as could be expected considering lack of equipment(maybe we should of asked the Riverboat for some equipment as only 13 turned up to play there)

Anyway enough of that...time for ma bed

Don't forget tommorow 25 F/O at 5pm @ Cincins
FERGUS DON'T BE LATE.

Thanks again guys

Sounds like a phoney war on poker clubs to go with the phoney war on terror to me.

Something just does not add up here, call me a 'wacko' if you must, but sounds like the scottish freemasons are at work from 'above', its the usual case, PC PLOD no idea, just following 'orders' again.

There was a similar case i know of regarding the British dental board, same line of reasoning, applied for everything, told nothing was needed, 8 months later, they changed the goalposts and because nothing was in writing from these buffons and clowns there no recourse, lesson to be learned, whatever these idiots tell you, GET IT IN **** WRITING, TAPE ALL PHONE CALLS WITH THEM, CAM CORDER THERE OPERATION RAIDING THE CLUB, AND THEN SUE THE BASTARDS.

Good luck in the future and dont let these bastards grind you down call, and CALL THERE BLUFFS.
