So I have left Stake me to play!!

When I signed the contract last year I only had 2 instances of make up until Christmas and had managed to wipe them both times within a week or two. So we were definitely +EV.
When they advertised the deal they were offering there was talk of top 2 leaderboard winners getting the use of a BMW for a month (supposedly nice ones), however I have not heard these mentioned in a long time.
We were also told that Stake me to play understands the isolation that online players can experience and with that in mind we will hold social gatherings about twice a month for the players and team to socialise. A date was finally set for some time in December and a hotel was booked by me and I was looking forward to it. I then got a call 2 or 3 days before saying it had been postponed as some people couldn't make it and numbers would be down etc. There has never been talk of another one at all.

So this was 2 things that didn't materialise and then most important of all, the coaching.
In all the time I was playing for them I only received 2 coaching sessions, both of which were very good and informative.

In January this year my wife was seriously ill and my volume had been affected massively and my mental state was in the wrong place to be playing. But I carried on as best I could and ended up in over $800 make up, I hated it as I owe no one any money. Found this very tilting as well. Also started to not enjoy playing as much as I did and put it down to pressure of volumes. Anyway make up was cleared 2 weeks ago when I won about $1300 in various tourneys in 1 sunday with great results. This now put me in profit and I had a week off to think.

Long and short of it is I left because they were not delivering on initial promises and 6 months is plenty of time to have sorted it out. Also not being free to play on Stars whatever I wanted was a pain in the arse.
I feel relieved already and already enjoying playing again

Neil,

I actually think that post is quite harsh. They gave us all a big opportunity to play stakes that we didn't have the bankroll for. I personally haven't had problems with any of my finances with them but I accept mistakes happen, we are all human, right? I accept you may not want to play under SMTP anymore but I think to publicly come on and criticise what they are doing is actually unfair. I for one and I know many others are actually happy with what SMTP are doing with us. I feel my poker has come on quite considerably since joining SMTP.

Take it you've got a perfect past and never made a mistake then? The sun must shine out right out of your rear by the sounds of it. Bet you lived the perfect life as a 19 year old?

at 19 i was a man so took care of my wife my mortgage my daughter and was expecting my 2nd daughter.
my mistakes were all made by the time i was 16/17

i had a 25k a year job at 19 and had never even heard of poker, now at 47 i have 3 kids a 2nd wife i have a nice 5bedroom house, a rental property in dorset and a decent business that i do about 12-15hrs a week at.

so in answer to your question at 19 life wasnt perfect but it is pretty much now after alot of graft

knuckle down sunshine and you could achieve the same.

What a perfect live you've lived. Some of us aren't so perfect unfortunately, maybe one day I'll strive to be just like you, logging on, criticising people who are old enough to nearly be your grandson for mistakes they even made when they were young too. And for your information, I also have a very well paid job too for my age, you'd actually be surprised. I far from want to acheive what you have infact, at 47 if I'm still posting stupid comments on poker forums, I'd be worried about myself. I'll go along way, I've learnt my lessons.

Can't agree with you
Neil gave his own opinon of a situation, given your past it stands to reason you will have problems get backed so even if peter sutcliff backed you, you would say he was a good bloke

Again, I made a mistake when I was 19, did you never make any? SMTP has nothing to do with my past, they are the current & the future. They gave me a chance and I've proven to myself and them that I can take it. Yes I log all transactions and I've never had an error made on either half. Mistakes do happen though and I'm aware of that. I just wouldn't publically criticise them for that as I'd hope they wouldn't me.

David - What has your experience been like of the tutoring and social aspects of SMTP?

I've had 3 coaching sessions now, I gave them some time at the start as obviously they were a new company setting up and I can appreciate taking on people and starting up takes time and patience but I found them very useful. With regards to tutoring, it's been spot on, I've dealt with Paul from day one and he's been really helpful to be fair, always on the end of the phone if I need him and has given good advice which has helped my game. I don't want to sound like I'm hanging out the back of them all but they really have been good as gold for me and I personally know 4 or 5 others who also feel the same.

I don't give a toss whether you are unhappy with my experience, it is what it is.
They are geared towards holdem players and I very rarely play this.
Have you been out on a social yet then? If so, how was it?
I had 2 coaching sessions and there was nothing in the pipeline for me either, I was going to look on 2+2 for one but decided to leave instead.
As for getting a shot at higher levels Brighton32, its not a problem if I fancy it as all previous packages have sold out.
Wasn't for me this staking lark and after all the hype SMTP created when they first come onto the scene, they never lived up to it in my opinion, if you don't like my opinion, tough $hit, don't read the thread.

Their figures were wrong on three separate occasions, and they are a poker staking company that deals with numbers, percentages, etc etc.

Not here to mug them off, its just my experience and, Brighton32, you are just a guy who has been given another shot after doing people over so I don't think you carry much weight as they are probably only company that will fund you now.

Why are you getting upset? It's a forum mate chill out.

I haven't been on a social no, I'm here to play poker, I do social's with my mates.

I'm just adding a different side to the story that is different to yours, I think it would he unfair to slate them publicly

Past is past, you seem more worried about my past than I do. They gave me a chance, I showed them what I can do. Dont work yourself up pal.

Yes you may be young but that is not an excuse for being a twat. You come across all high and mighty when you should portray a little humility and show respect to the internet.

Like sport, perception of an individual is 99% in the mind. Yours or others. Learn that and chalk it up Boi.

Lol at the response I get for posting my views which are actually positive! I'm doing just fine in my career thank you. No idea what your bottom sentence is getting at to be honest, doubt you even probably do to be honest. Run along Wayne.
