IMO any game that needs to be scored entirely by judges is not a real sport. It's a type of dance or something.

Winter Olympics has a lot of them, but the proper Olympics has too many for my liking as well.

amateur boxing is predominantly scored by judges.

Yeah I think most people consider it not-a-real-version of boxing. Admittedly even real boxing ventures in to a grey area.

Wasn't scoring in boxing introduced to stop deaths though? Prior to that it was always last man standing, even if that took 100+ rounds.

I can forgive boxing on that basis, but I tend to agree, if its decided by judges, its not really a sport for me.

Yeah I agree with some leeway.

I am tempted to think that belts shouldn't transfer on points though, it should be called a winning or losing draw. Then the major win-draw-loss wouldn't rely on points, and there would be more incentive for the challenger to take risks. But maybe the holder would nit-up too much? Tricky.

I have been thinking more about amateur boxing, I think that if the judges are counting punches landed that might put it in real sport territory - its like counting how many times a ball crossed the goal line.

i am going to assume this is some sort of level. Amateur boxing is scored by the judges counting punches by pressing a button. they have two buttons, one for each boxer.

I'm agreeing, contrary to my older post. I think this counts as sport. Diving and ski-jumping don't
