Hello all

My first post. I'm an amateur at poker as I only play for fun. I only play tournaments live at casinos or local club. I want to go through these scenarios on these two hands.

Blinds are 2000/4000

Everyone folds, SB raise to 8,000, me BB re-raise to 32,000. SB shoves for 60K with me calling with 80K in chips. He had 99 and I had AK off suit and missed. Was it wrong for me to call without seeing a flop?

Blinds are 400/800

Me middle position re-raise to 2700 with JJ pre-flop. One caller from BB. Flop 8 6 3 rainbow. Check from BB, bet 11K with 10K remaining and BB calls (he was chip leader). K turns and he jams and I called. He hits 2 pairs K,8. Should have I jammed on the flop?

Thanks guys!

Hand 1: I am almost always just shoving over his min raise with 15bb behind. If I do decide to take the line to 3bet instead of shove I am gonna make it really small so my opponent still thinks he has fold equity. In this case I would probably make it 18000 - 22000 but that would be uncommon at best.

Hand 2: I am not in love with your open raise size as I would prefer to see it in the 2000 - 2400 area but its not terrible. I do hate you flop bet sizing though. There is 5800 in the middle and you bet 11k which is a little over half your remaining stack and approaching double the pot. I would much prefer to bet something like 4000 ish which is still in keeping with the pot, doesnt make us look over committed to the villain and if he doesnt raise or anything like that allows us to shove the turn for a pot sized bet. As much as I hate the play I would actually prefer jamming over betting 11k of 21k stack into 6k because at least people can then decide to put you on AK whereas betting half your stack considerably weights you to pairs in most players capable of thinking about others peoples hands.

Hand 1 I'm all in pre

Hand 2 I raise to 1900 pre, he calls.
Bet about 2500 on the flop, he calls obv, then when he shoved the turn it's an easy fold
