Be it a site or a specific format/limit/buy in level - Where do you still see value?

I am genuinely intrigued as to whether or not people still think there is real value in the game.

For me i will be moving over from holdem to o8, Holdem has become a minefield really and i still think there is plenty of value in o8 and it's variants

Would agree with this. Loads of value in omaha and it's variants. Obviously some big tournaments on pokerstars for these variants but dont rule out full tilt. All the tournaments on there have a guarantee and many do not make it. Look out for 'game of the week' when its plo, o8 or even courchevel.

I think there is, there is a lot less than there used to be for sure, and you need to be much better, to win less than you could before, but its still there.

I guess it comes down to how hard you want to work for it, and what your restraints are. If you are trying to make a living from it, then I would suggest having lots of accounts, for various parts of the world. Or pokerstars and full tilt are good for having an almost world wide collection of players. You would probably do well by playing when certain countries who have more newer to the game players, than in say the UK or Europe are playing.

If because of work though, you can only play at peak UK times, then I guess the best thing to do is take a closer look at yourself. Work out how you can play your A game as often as possible, try to mix up your play, and work on improving yourself and trying to get ahead of the average field.

I think midstakes offer the best returns. People who are trying to gamble, rather than play poker, will be playing as high as they can, but since they usually lose, they wont be playing really high. The lower stakes tends to have a lot of ok players all playing fairly ABC. So for example $0.01/$0.02 and $0.02/$0.05 isnt as easy as it probably sounds, the same for $2.25 sngs and $2 and $3 tournaments. I think the crazier, more gamble orientated players are in $0.5/$1 $1/$2, or $10 sngs or higher buyin tournaments where they are concentrating on the prize, rather than how much it costs to enter.

Cant comment on OM8 specifically, because I dont play it, but there are some quite weak players in Omaha high, Irish and 6 card Omaha. But of course, you have to remember, that there are also some very good players, who have been playing these games for a while, so they can take your money quite easy too. You have to drop down in stakes and be prepaired to pay for your education first. So its not insta cash.

Yes but I'm mostly a micro/low buyin MTT-SNG/ MTT (nlhe) player.

I'm going to be making some big adjustments for 2014 because Skrill will no longer be available to Canadians. This will affect me greatly as I've tended to be a real bonus hunter & have been playing on over 20 different sites, chasing after whatever bonus offer (ie. deposit freerolls, VIP freerolls, etc.) that I can. As a recreational player, it's actually where a decent amount of my profit comes from.

Cleaning up a bunch of smaller bankrolls on a number of accounts, trying to consolidate them into just a few sites. Feeling a bit depressed about it all tbh. Sad
I think I'm going to definitely be doing things differently (no choice really) & will have to succumb to playin' in the massive fields on Pokerstars for the most part (& prob throwing in a bunch of 45man's (& 180's) when I'm playing.

Who knows... maybe it's the turning point I need. Just doesn't feel like it right now.
