Your mate sounds a bit of a dick to be honest. Who plays a 30 rebuy with just 30 anyway and if he is the best player why wont someone just front him the 30 quid to put in the pot until he wins or at least makes a deal. I think the fact no one did tells you all you need to know.
And trying to get out of it on the basis you showed someone your hand is just an angle in anyones book.

Ask him what he intended to do in principle if he had the winning hand and managed to win the event, would he still have refused to pay the 30 quid and expected to pocket the winnings, because of the principle or would he have quit the game in protest?

What kind of deal did you make in a 'cash' game?

Sorry I guess it was more of a tourney than a cash game, I confused myself reading so many posts and articles yesterday. We all put 30 quid in to get 30 quids worth of chips (which is why I said cash) but it was a tourney setup. There was only 5 players so should have been 180 in the pot with that missing money, the deal was I take 120 with the 2 remaining players getting their money back. In the end there was only 150 in the pot so I just got back 90 which felt quite underwhelming!

Have no idea how this home game took off.... Your mate owes you #30 - NO DOUBT about that

Also your 3 handed (Pot is #150) and your friends accept a deal where they get their money back and give you 90??WTF

Only 2 ppl have dropped and they giving you all the profit in the pot. WEIRD only 40% of the chips have been distributed. so far..so even if you havent made any chip proft yet..your still in with a chance to have to go for 1st place.

5 handed Prize pool should be
1st:120 2nd:60(with your mates 30) OR
1st:90 2nd: 60(without your mates 30)

its not surprising you got angled. Sounds like the strangest home game ever!

i am the player who refuses to cough up the 30

Points to note:
1. Dont really give a stuff about the 30, regardless of whethere it was 5 or 100 my stance would be the same. This isnt an issue of being skint or not having the cash
2. This post has all gone a bit loose women, de-friending me would result in godissturbed not getting a lift to 5s or having a lead guitarist in the band. we've been mate for 25 years so everyone calm down (love the comments about 'hes not a mate' or 'batter him'- over 30 really?!.
3. Re being a Dick...maybe- we were all fairly steaming but this is an issue of etiquette and fair play
4. It wasnt a re-buy tourney, was really a freeze out where i took an agreed add on hence why i didnt have any cash on me

My stance is as follows
I was in a small pot hand against godisturbed about an hour before. Action was on me, i flashed my cards to player sitting next to me, i had bottom pair and bet out (board was trash). Wasnt discussing the hand but godisturbed noticed this. In general if you show one you show all so i happily and quickly showed my hand. Godsturbed raises and i quickly chuck em- no biggie

So, we get in this massive hand which ive bet about half my remaining stack on the river. he hums and haws and shows his hand to the played next to him. At this point ive got no idea what hes got and the fact hes talking to someone in a big hand is big no no in my book (esp when i cant hear whats being said). I request him to turn his hand (as i did previously) which he doesnt do which i think is shit etiquette. Anway i get pissed off and bin the rest of my chips into the pot (before hes showed his hand) and go for a fag

My arguement is if he'd shown his hand the hand was over and we'd of moved on. he refused to give me chips back (that werent in the pot until i lost the rag) which i think in a friendly game is kinda shit given we're pissed. Yup this is my fault for losing the rag but i think given his etiquette triggered this situation and the fact home game i should of got my chips back other players were in agreement

Home games are home games, there will be some messing about but in big hands things like this shouldnt be happening.

He's still 60 up. Where 2nd/3rd agreed to such a shitty split is beyond me. He fecked me on a hand (knew he had nothing) where he called 10 because he couldnt tell the difference between a 6 and a 9!!! Plus I bought him carryout and a few pints! I took this is good grace but the etiquette thing was too much for me

In summary, none of this shit would happen, if it did it wouldnt go unchecked. Its a friendly game, i think i was robbed, 30 down, fairs fair

Such an emo home game.

There isn't really anything wrong with flashing cards in a home game, but if you don't like it make a rule they have to do a shot or something.

Don't try to kill hands, it ruins the flow of the game.

$hitty home game imo.
Boys night, everyone is showing each other that isn't in a hand.#
1. For the banter, its a fun night out
2. Improve and help each other, we are all mates.

If the money aint a problem, you were pissed. Pay up. Using the fact you are the guitarist in a band with him is BS, not far off blackmail.
If your playing with mates behave like a mate, you sound like a right wrong un, glad your not my mate

what hows it blackmail? we're all mates- the etiquette is **** up. If its a big hand it should be treated as so, discussing hands shouldnt be allowed end of- wouldnt be allowed in any card room/casino/pub game. if he'd turned his cards there wouldnt of been a problem, if he'd snap called (as he had the nuts i believe) or re-popped no problem but stroking is just bad etiquette
