Ive just got back into playing live tournaments and after 3 weeks of bad beats trying to satellite into them Via I Poker Im going to use Betfair instead. Im going to stick my horse bets up.
So far one today Valmina 2.20

Great draw on the fence , 3 front runners all drawn wide to make it a fast pace to suit Valmina.

I can see the pace strangling itself and giving me a place at least.

I play in general for the place 80% place 20% win

i have never placed a horse bet online.
Is it as simple as make an account and select the horse?
How do i search for the best odds?

Pretty much, yes.

http://www.oddschecker.com

but only of use if you have an account with all the bookies, though.

Inquest :- Not a great start.read the race right ,very quick, the jockey ran a stinker so will never know if a place was in.My biggest fear pre race was a bad ride but i thought a bad ride would at least place

2 for wolves same rules 80/20 .

415 BASSETT ROAD has a string of 2nds over 7 drops back to six.Lack of real pace in the race gives him the perfect position.sit on the speed and run well.

520 NAABEGHA.will be held up with loads of pace to aim at.Good jockey from behind even though his course stats are not that good.11k prize will means a good race - what we want for a hold up.

running -1

At least im on good again.Looks like both will be favs from 5s and 7s

running -2

Inquest:- BASSETT ROAD Ran too keen and they went quicker than I expected backed into 2-1 I was on 5/4 for a place which now counts for squat !.Set the race up for held up runners.

another one

730 Monte Cassino .Knows his way around with a jockey that does too.A race that should suit the pace and thats where I expect him to be.should run well against horses unproven on the track.

I used to use the exchanges a lot some years back. Betdaq was a good one as well, not even sure if it still exists though.

I never understood why people would go to the online bookies when they could get a better price at Betfair. I've noticed that nowadays the prices aren't that much different between the two though. I currently use Hills when I want to have a flutter online as I had some trouble with Betfair. I won't bore you with the details, it's boring. At one point though I thought that the traditional bookmakers were using the exchanges to hedge/off set bets, it seemed feasible at the time and as technology moved on it seemed almost a no brainer. Maybe that's why the disparity between odds became smaller?

Anyway, good luck with all your gambles. Do you ever lay bets?

Nearly a winner but 5/4 place means small profit.
Points - 2.4

Yes I do lay .I lay favs for a place if they are totally unsuitable for that race.

450 CAMACHE QUEEN .Good draw good jockey. Finally given a chance by the handicapper. ALHAARTH BEAUTY should lead fast.having ran in higher grades CAMACHE QUEEN wont be troubled by the pace and should run well.

620 RISE TO GLORY drawn wide but with a load of plodders will still lead in form and looking to run a big race.

inquest- CAMACHE QUEEN set the race up for the fav tried to make all.i think she will be ready soon and should get good odds.

Rise to glory taken on early backed from 5s the night before into 2-1 but got 1.8 the place so OK there.Taken on for the lead and set the race up for a 7f horse !

points - 4.7 (rough)

Not the best week so far but plenty racing to go.I want to play the BIG ONE @ DTD so had better pull my finger out Smile
