Genting Poker Series Leg 2 - Fox Poker Club
Entry: £400 + £30 Guarantee: £100,000 Players: 580 Prize Pool: £232,000 Places Paid: 60 After a very short heads up battle with Callum Smith, Albert Sapiano turned at 2:1 chip deficit into a £50,160 pay day and trophy, as he out flopped Callum twice to take the title. The fact that Callum was even in contention, let alone such a masive favourite at Heads Up was a near miracle as just an hour or so earlier, the lad from the South coast had just two big blinds and was facing down the barrel of a gun with the words "Get your coat" written on. However after a couple of double ups, Callum hit hand after hand to take out 3 players in a period of no more than 20 minutes, building his chip stack up to just over 10,000,000 Vs Albert's 4,600,000. But it was Albert who hit the hands Heads up and after no more than 10 hands, he was crowned our Champion. The two blows for Callum came in the shape of Albert calling his AK shove with A7, only to hit a 755x7 board (4.6m swing) and then post flop, Callum pushing with AQ on a KQJ flop, only for Albert to call with K10. Callum still had all manner of outs including a backdoor flush draw, but the turn was useless and the river dry and Albert Sapiano was the winner. For those who don't know Albert he is one of the nicest player in the UK, and is a Palm Beach regular. By his own admission he will play any two cards, and hit some incredible outs to navigate his way through the monster field. A massive thanks to Fox Poker Club and Palm Beach for hosting the events, to Kevin, Colin, Raf and James, who together with Paul, Nick and Charlie and the Fox and Palm Beach teams did an awesome job, working stupidly long hours. Also big thanks to Caroline, Dom and Michelle for blogging / photographing and fixing to the max. Mad Marty and Paul Zimbler worked tirelessly in the commentary kitchen and their efforts were also superb. My team of Dave, Paul (Ralph) and Nygell were heroes. My final thanks goes to Andy Booth, the funniest man in the UK, who is also pretty good with RFID technology. Notable finishes were: 9th Elzbieta Biesse-Piechota £9,280 (4th GUKPT Leaderboard last year, and highest placed lady) 12th David Lloyd £2,320 17th Stevie Watts £1,620 34th Ruslan Vlasov £970 (GPS Leg 1 winner, and Fox Poker Club 'Man Event winner' 42nd Yucel Eminoglu £860 53rd Surinder Sunar £770 Genting Poker Series Leg 2 - Fox Poker Club The full payout list is as follows: 1 Albert Sapiano £48,560 plus £1600 Grand Final Seat 2 Callum Smith £32,940 3 Kirit Patel £23,200 4 Robin Dhinsa £18,560 5 Neil McCulloch £14,500 6 Stephen Hollinshead £11,600 7 Elzbieta Biesse-Piechota £9,280 8 James Thomson £6,960 9 Ghassan Chehbi £4,640 10 Simon Randall £3,480 11 Bharminder Maker £2,780 12 David Lloyd £2,320 13 Amasaka Kawano £2,090 14 Chris Gordon £1,620 15 Rahul D'Silva £1,620 16 Timothy Gordon £1,620 17 Stevie Watts £1,620 18 Elliott Panyi £1,620 19 Jamie Burland £1,620 20 Paul Austin £1,620 21 Robert Davenport £1,620 22 Iaron Lightbourne £1,620 23 Muhammad Alrefai £1,620 24 David Montague £1,160 25 Nick Mazur £1,160 26 Michael Lam £1,160 27 Bin Bin Long £1,160 28 Nigel Berg £1,160 29 Euan Cameron £1,160 30 Ian Broadrick £970 31 Nicholas Jenkins £970 32 Prassanna Suryanarayanan £970 33 Edward Turk £970 34 Ruslan Vlasov £970 35 Ali Chaaban £970 36 Spyros Mouzoura £970 37 Faustas Didzivlis £970 38 Adrian Smith £970 39 R. Would like to say that I thought Colin did a great job as TD/floorman. In my opinion he made some really good rulings maintaining the integrity of the tournament and also showing common sense.
Albert is a legend. I have no idea how he managed to win but that's why we love poker! |

Albert is a legend. I have no idea how he managed to win but that's why we love poker! +1 I'd love to see him added to YATTD. Logic, fairness and consistency without a trace of arrogance (but definitely a touch of good-willed humour). I saw him ensure the rules were kept while delivering his rulings in a way that diffused tension which could have errupted into something ugly. He was a big part of making the *experience(s) of the main event positive for me. *coughre-entrycough _________________ "I find it's best to start the day with no composure and then you've got nothing to lose."
