I am thinking of running a few classes in Holdem Poker at my university to try and encourage more people to join our Poker society, and to teach them a little about the game as many fresh faced 18 year old students may not yet have played.

I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions about how to structure such a course. I guess similar courses must have run in the past, does anybody know of any literature from them? (If not then I guess i will just have to lift a few chapters from Sklansky)

If anybody fancies giving a guest lecture/talk in Poker here in Cambridge then please let me know.

Cheers,
Steveyboy

I'm currently running a poker school in Dublin. This is a bona-fide 8 week course in poker.

See http://tinyurl.com/nt5t for an idea on the sort of things we're covering!

Hi steve,

I have lived in Cambridge for a while now and as far as i could tell the poker scene is completely dead in this town. I have to travel to london and beyond to get a game. If you are from cambridge and have any info on regular poker games in and around cambridge could you drop us a line on jonesmatt@hotmail.com or post here. Just discovered your website, can anyone turn up to your thursday nights? I have never claimed to be the best player in the world (and i would definately rank myself amongst the worst heads up players in the universe judging by recent results) but i would be more than happy to get involved in teaching others how to play.

Hi Matt and anyone else interested,

Anybody is welcome to come along to our games in Cambridge as long as they are prepared to be friendly and non abusive. During term time we regularly have 20 people turning up to our Thursday night games. We normally play a 5 rebuy Holdem tourny and then run a couple of cash games (PL and Limit Holdem). I think play should resume again after the summer Holiday in early October. If you fancy coming along then let me know and I can get you added to our email list, that way you will get a weekly email letting you know about the action.

Steveyboy

PS Sorry Mob for the plug of our game, but i guess as honorary members of our society you won't mind Smile

Steveyboy we don't mind you posting about the CUCPS and your games at all. We hope that they become more and more popular and wish you all the best with them.

Feel free to post any reports or bad beats right here as well.
