weekly cash game at our local pub.25/.50 NLH.........all 9 limp into pot.post flop 1st to act bets 4,everyone calls until it gets to nearly last to act who re raises to 5.25 and is all in.....1st to act now calls this but almost everyone who acted after him went all in for whatever they had.i am wrong in thinking they can only call the 5.25????????????subsequently meant we had about 5 different pots to side!!!!!

The 5.25 bet isn't a valid raise and does not re-open the betting. A player between him and the person who originally raised has the option to bet whatever they want as they haven't acted yet, but that didn't happen so the original 4 better can only call the extra 1.25 and the same for everyone afterwards. There shouldn't have been any side pot unless there was further betting on the turn.

Yes, he hasn't acted on the flop yet so he can do whatever he wants of course.

Does this apply to limit games, think it was the league Horse game the other week where this caught me out as I thought my call ended the action, but ended up getting my ass capped.

In limit poker a bet/raise of half the complete bet for that round usually reopens the action, depending on casino/site rules of course.

FYP. The landlord may be committing an offence but the players certainly aren't.
