No, you won't have any problems - you can take in or out of the USA as much cash as you like. Just make sure you declare it as you go through customs, and that they have you fill out the correct form.

Never risk going through without declaring it on your customs form, even if you are only 10c over the $10,000.

Stevie,

I'm sure the Mob or some pros on here are better qualified to advise but i'm sure you can wire large sums to the casinos. Either a) the rio or b) bellagio or c) where you're staying, without too much hassle.

You can take as much money into the US with you as you want, providing you declare the amount on the white customs form. To make things easier, you could also bring proof of where the money came from and what it will be used for.

I am thinking a bank statement and a schedule of events you want to play would suffice.

As somebody else said, you can also wire the money to the casino you are staying at, some have details online, others you would need to phone.

Alternatively, you could have the money wired to you whilst you was out there.

3rdly there is a riskier option, wire me the money and I will....nah on second thoughts take it with you LOL

The limit is $5000 on the white customs form, for both US nationals and Johnny Foreigner.

The $10,000 limit is when institutions file a Suspicious Acitivity Report (SAR), although this can also be done for smaller transactions also.

I took a large amount in cash last year. Just make sure you fill in the form to declare it and you will be fine.
You might want to be able to account for its origin if you were flying in to some other locations but this is Vegas - they are used to people arriving with lots of money.

Not sure NevadaKaz as the usual customs form, the white one, asks for declarations over $10,000.

As has been said the most important thing is to declare. If you have $11,000 and don't declare it you are likely to have the whole $11,000 confiscated and not just the $1,000 over.

LA customs are always going to be more suspicious of large cash amounts than LV customs for obvious reasons. Simon Trumper had a few more thousand than $10,000 when he connected in LA and not only did they confiscate the money they also confiscated a few Rolex watches that he was carrying. He arrived in Vegas potless but luckily has a few friends who could help him out. He managed to get it all back but it took several months and a revisit to LA.

One word of warning regarding bank wires. Apart from the usual costs involved there is another downside. The casino cage will not allow you to take more than 10% of the bank wire in cash. If you wire $100,000 they will only let you have $10,000 in cash and the other $90,000 must be in chips. You cannot then take the chips and cash them out either as they will ask for verification of where they came from. There are time consuming and awkward work arounds however and they are not guaranteed.

I stand corrected.

The link is to a sample of the form, they also tell you the additional form you need if you have $10,000+

Sometimes Rolling Eyes

Big chips would usually have to be verified by a phone call to the Bellagio and often the Bellagio wouldn't verify. I remember that they refused to verify a $5,000 chip for Martin De Kniff who, considering he won $2.7 million there and had a huge amount on deposit, was considerably annoyed.

If you know some of the bigger players you can ofen trade them in cash games.

I think if you avoid the $5k chips you're fine. Say withdraw $4k in $1k chips per time, and then you can either cash these in later at the bellagio cage, or use them at the rio

Why don't you just get the cash wired to the hotel beforehand and then pick it up when you get there?
