The 45th edition of the World Series of Poker is set for Las Vegas starting on Tuesday, May 27th, 2014…

Save the Dates!

After 35 years at Binion’s Horseshoe, 2014 will mark the 10th straight year that the WSOP is presented at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino’s Convention Centre.

The WSOP will run between May 27th and July 14th, 2014 with the Main Event set to begin on Saturday, July 5th. The Main will feature three Day 1s.

WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart: “In our 45th year, and tenth at the Rio, we are hard at work to make the 2014 World Series of Poker the biggest and best yet … We will build it, we hope you will come.”

For the first time in a long time, poker players in the US, or, at least those located in New Jersey and Nevada, will get the opportunity to qualify their way into WSOP events online by playing at WSOP.com

While the full schedule won’t be released until sometime in January, the WSOP did release some information on a few key events other than the Main:

Key Events Return

The Millionaire Maker event will return this season. The $1,500 buy-in NLH event is set to begin on Saturday, May 31st. The winner of the event will win a guaranteed minimum of 1M USD!

After a one-year hiatus, many poker fans will be excited to see the return of the 1M USD buy-in Big One for Drop starting on Sunday, June 29th. The event, which was first presented in 2012, was won by Antonio Esfandiari, who took home more than 18M USD in what stands to this day as the largest first prize awarded in the history of poker.

The Little One for One Drop, which took the Big One’s spot on the schedule in 2013, will return in 2014 with two Day 1s on July 3rd and 4th. The $1,111 buy-in NLH event will offer unlimited re-entry for the first four levels of play.

While WSOP officials are busy putting the final touches to the official schedule, we can already confirm that this year’s series will include over 60 bracelet events with weekend, once again, reserved for lower buy-in NLH tournaments so that the everyday day man/woman can take their shot at glory!
